wtnhunt
Sorry for the long post, with the posts on trespassing lately, here goes another. Really stinks when you work your property to try to help have better deer by implementing food plots and watching bucks trying to establish what you have around so you know what to let walk only to have some lowlife yahoos who are not even supposed to be there whack whatever comes by. We pay our property taxes year after year, pay a mortgage and insurance, pay for our equipment maintenance, and these jerks pay nothing and feel they somehow are due the right to walk all over property they have no permission to be on. Neighbor allows only us to hunt his farm and has made it pretty clear that he wants no one else on his farm. Weekend of our youth hunt a week ago there was someone on the neighbor, 3 shots on the Saturday morning, they shot back towards our house which further infuriates me with having my wife and kids possibly in their line of fire. Yotes carrying on Sunday evening back behind the neighbors barn kind of reinforce that someone had killed something on his property. Fast forward to this weekend, Saturday morning I hear someone drive in as I am walking on my way to the stand. They evidently parked on the county owned property and made their way onto my neighbors land. I watch and video a couple young bucks, enjoying the show they put on as they head into my neighbors woods. I continue hunting and later three more deer cut across my field into the neighbors woods and thinking to myself that things are getting right. Approximately 15 minutes after I last see them I hear someone shoot. Wife texts me a little later on thinking it was me because the shot was so close. Nope, not me, but I had a pretty good idea where the person shot from, I had caught people hunting back there in that same area in the past. Saturday evening we hear yotes back on my neighbor near where I heard the shot. Sunday morning they come back, never heard them drive in this time. I shoot video of a little sparring match between a couple bucks, one a decent 2.5 year old that the wife probably would have been happy to shoot. I hear someone shoot from further up the woods, back closer to my neighbors barn. Waited about 20 minutes and could not stand it anymore, got down and made my way in. Had turkeys all over as I was walking, hard to tell what was moving where. Never did find whoever shot, but did work my way along looking for any stands or sign and found where the deer had been shot the day before well onto my neighbors property. As I am walking on my way back I saw a buck in the woods headed towards our property, hard to see due to the terrain, but the buck looked to be limping and it did not take off hard. Wife hunted Sunday evening and of course the yotes were back, she said they were closer to our line. Man I hope the poacher did not wound the deer I saw and it die, guess I need to take another walk. Last time I caught someone on the neighbor the clown on the county property had given him permission to hunt the county owned property adjacent to the neighbor and the idiot took it on himself to get over on the neighbor about 400 yards. That person had no authority to give permission for anyone to hunt, ended up talking with local law enforcement folks and ended up having to talk with the county mayor who said he would take care of it. Don't think we had a problem last year with anyone over there, guess its time I am gonna have to make some calls again.
92xj
Sounds like its time to hunt the neighbors farm and get in way early. That way you are already there when they come walking in and then have a little chat with them.
TN Bucknasty
I feel your pain. A working man can't have anything.

Got a call in to our game warden now.

ruttinbuc
That sux, William! This is a problem that shows up here every year. Our club ground (owned by a utility) has people on it from bordering state land all the time. They wipe out the state land and then trespass looking for more. I can't believe the mindset of what seems to be way too many today. I guess it goes with the attitudes of disrespect to day. "Hooray for me I can do whatever I want!" We need to be more vigilante in catching these slugs. The slap on the wrist needs to be increased to something that really hurts to enforce the issue. QDMAworks4me
We have lots of people like that around here, it really is frustrating to put all that work in and money in taxes and insurance as you say and they just come in and ruin your hunt and eventually if you don't catch them your season. arrow32
Hope your able to catch them. I must say I've been very lucky with that in my area. I've had some problems but really rather few compared to most. I hope your able to catch these scum bags william
huntnfish
That stuff happens everywhere. Not only do poachers trespass and hunt on the lease I have in NC, but will also steal stands, game cameras or whatever they can get their hands on. We have even found deer with heads cut-off after they had been shot by these poachers. I definitely feel your pain.
