The Dark side of Shed hunting 2010

I finally got this video put together after hearing our town is going to displace a whole lot of low income families and folks in our town.

I hope City council gets the point.

Most of narration was done as I was video taping last spring while shed hunting, I just had to add a bit to the beginning and end.

"there, but for the grace of god, go i". great film, steve.

you need to get hold of the police (to make sure the owners are indeed gone) and remove that equipment. claim salvage rights and sell the stuff. it not only cleans up the woods but will add to your income. you mentioned that they get it all free from the salvation army. while that's a good thing overall, since they have nothing invested they'll just leave it behind and go get new stuff in the next town over.

Nicely done buckee.

Be carefull around them old abandoned camp sites....we know you mean no harm but some of the inhabitants may not. Most of these folks are truley in survival mode already and no telling how much even the clothes on your back are worth to them. Not saying they're bad people, but desperate times sometimes bring out the worse in someone.

Chances are, like Steve said, they will leave this gear behind and move on when they're forced to leave for whatever reason. Most likely just drifters passing through on the way towards the bigger city where life sustaining necessities are more readilly available....not to mention the safety in numbers the homeless find in togetherness just as we do.

Well done Steve, beautiful country,,,But sad to see homeless is an issue where you live as well, I guess it's all over, no matter what country you live in.

It breaks your heart to see people live homeless, and there is no need for it, seems countries always have money for war, and other ways to waste it, but little to nothing is done for the homeless..

I thought about cleaning things up Steve, but also thought that maybe they or one of their friends might be coming back to find a place to sleep at one time or another. It seems that besides drug and alcohol issues, many of the homeless are folks in need of special care because of mental problems. Yeah, it's kind of spooky finding these campsites, and I suppose it's just a matter of time before I find someone is home, or there's a dead body laying there.
