stcif
Max shot with my 12 gauge would be no more than 100 yards, give or take a few. As to where you should be sighted in, I'm assuming you mean something like, should I be 2" high at 50 yards, etc...? There really is no way to answer this effectively. It depends on what ammo you are using and your set up. I shoot Lightfields and when sighted in 2" high at 50 yards they are about zeroed at 100 yards. If I were you I would re-mount the scope and start from scratch. I shoot a 3 shot group from 25 yards, then 50, then 100. At least this way you will know how the loads you are using work in your gun. I would not go by what people say or what is printed on a box of ammo as gospel. Use that info as a guide then go to the range. Good luck. LETMGROW
Can't add much to the above response. Alot will depend on the type of slug you are using. Rifled or saboted slugs have a different trajectory. Are you shooting 2 3/4" or 3"? 12 ga, or 20 ga.? Smoothbore or rifled barrel? Like was said, set up 25, 50 and 100 yd. targets and record your rise and drop after you have sighted in. Max range on a slug can [ emphasis on "can"] be around 200 yards. This will depend on the gun and ammo choice. Personally I stay under 150 yd. That is with a rifled barrel and Winchester Supreme 2 3/4" saboted slugs. 12 ga. Only you can decide the effective range. mikebohio
if your taking the scope off to bird hunt im assuming your not using a slug barrel. without it i would not shoot past 100 yds. the slug barrel for that gun is very inexpensive. with my browning gold deer gun shooting hornady sst i sight in 2" high at 50 that puts me 1" high at 100 0 at 150 and 5" low at
