Re: Coyote Hunting

You ever get frustrated when you don't get a straight, clear answer? Some guys sell the pelts, some guys leave em lay. I havent been selling because there was no one interested ( that I could find) in my area for the last 2-3 years. Some people don't want to invest the time and trouble. There used to be a place near me that would give $5.00 for the whole dog and they would skin em out. Thats pretty nice as far as I'm concerned.

You wouldn't want to mess with mange. It's very nasty leave those critters lay. Flees? That would be your call. As for me, they would be crow food. Flees can be tough to get rid of, but we don't have many in this area so I really don't give them much thought.

Re: Coyote Hunting

fleas they are a friend lol!!to tell you the truth there are noit alot of fleas on coyotes usually up here, you will find a few on every coyote and if one jumps on you it willnot stick around, you just get used to them! Some say fleas will bite but in all my years of skinning I have never ben bit once. mange I do not find much of aproblem, if it is bad I usually burn them to try to stop the spread and wear rubber gloves, if just a touch on the belly or tail i will skin it out even though people say not to, I wear gloves and as soon as I am done I shower and use a strong antibacterianl soap! I am jsut very careful, Ii a coyote looks sick I will not skin it or if one is acting wierd before I shoot I will not but thsi has only happend once, most of the tiem a sick looking one has the most terrable looking hide its worthless to skin anyways, seems like the thick shiney coat si the first to go when they get sick!
