Gonna have to link to the thread I posted here http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102392. Just about 100 yards or so away from my property well onto my neighbor. Walking back this morning after a great rifle opener I found this carcass that looks to possibly be about 2 weeks old to me. The person who shot him must have split when they saw or heard me coming, that was 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Probably a 1.5 year old and a nice symmetrical 8 point rack. Real shame, could have been a nice buck if he had another year or so on him, too bad I did not look a little more when I was trying to find the poacher as I walked within probably 25-30 yards of where I found this deer.

Makes you wonder for sure. No matter what you do these people keep right on doing it.

Yep Mike, but I think we have it narrowed down on who is slipping in or at least on what they are driving. They are on notice, warden also knows about the situation and since he has made his presence known I have not heard a shot from the neighbors property, I am gonna be hunting where I can catch them. Next time around they shoot on my neighbor if I don't catch them there I will be meeting them at the road and I do now have full rights to prosecute them.

Here I let this buck(a probably close to 17 inch inside 8 point) walk this morning feeling like I am doing the right thing, only to find this little 12 inch wide 8 on my way walking back that some jerk poached. Frustrating is a huge understatement.

I hope that guy gets the message and is smart enough not to make that mistake. Sometimes I think these guys have no brains at all. Kirk has the right idea on how they should be dealt with. Prosecuting them would get the word out if they are that stupid to return.

That is a shame for the young buck. He sure had some good potential. You did the right thing with passing the buck this morning. He will be a real good buck next year and beyond if he makes it. Very healthy looking animals you have down there, William. I'd be very protective of those critters, too.

that kinda stuff just drives me nuts.

Yep, pretty well fuming mad. Probably a good thing I did not catch the scumbag especially with seeing the deer they wasted. Hopefully the law will do its part when we can id them.

thats a pretty nice buck for a year and a half thats to bad

Gonna check the teeth and see, but we have seen 1.5 year olds like this before.

Yeah Mike, I caught someone a few years back who killed another really nice young 8 pt. that I had passed up numerous times, actually shot some pics of the deer in our backyard. I posted on that back then somewhere, problem has been ongoing. That person shot from the county property onto my neighbor, jerk did not even know what it was that he shot, and he had shot at 2 different deer that morning. Our hands were pretty well tied at that time, not the case now.

Yesterday morning I had the crosshairs settled dead on the shoulder on a pretty hard quartering too shot at about 45 yards, was game over had I wanted to take him. Pretty certain it was the buck above in the trail cam pics. Gotta love getting them that close, sure gets the ticker going, what its all about.
