If building a Muslim mosque near ground zero wasn't enough insult, now the Muslims want to use federal tax dollars set aside for rebuilding the twin towers area. There is 17 million set aside and they want at least 5 million!?!?

Oh and democrats have created a dream act for illegals? The democrats make me wanna puke!

I couldn't agree more with bolded, any Federal spending on any religion whatsoever is a disgrace and just about as un-American as it gets.

FTR: Technically, it's not a mosque that Feisal Abdul Rauf (I'm assuming thats what you meant by "Muslim's") wants to build 2 blocks away from the ground Zero site, it's an "Islamic Prayer Center". Now I don't know what the difference is, but it sounds an aweful lot like a church to me. And considering there is a church directly across the street from Ground Zero as well as several other churches closer than the proposed construction and a mosque just 4 blocks away, I don't see what the big deal is. NYC is the most linguistically and religiously diverse city in the world, and Manhatten's population is aprox. 1.8 million residents, probably closer to 2.5 million during the work week, all crammed into 23 square miles........EVERYTHING is close together!

And as far as the DREAM act is concerned, old news, been kicking around the House and Senate since before 9/11.

That's brutal. Saw on the news tonight that the largest city in Maine is calling the city Christmas tree "The Tree" as not to offend anyone. I could have a major rant about this... but I probably do not need to. I am sure you can read my mind.

Just as a matter of a point of clarification and to toss some gasoline on the fire.....

This piece of crap not only wants federal money for the mosque.....this piece of crap wants MONEY SET ASIDE TO REBUILD LOWER MANHATTAN AS A RESULT OF 9/11 for the mosque.

They blow up our buildings and then have the gall to ask us to build a shrine to the event right next to the sight.

I hope the place catches on fire and every last one of the 'peaceful muslims' get a taste of what the people burned in 9/11 felt.

Careful there...that sure is painting with a broad stroke. Just like every christian isn't a pedophile, every muslim isn't a terrorist.

Sure sounds a lot like the extremism that brought those buildings down in the first place.

I almost have more of a problem with this then I do with the Mosque.

Its time that we as American's stuck with our American traditions and values and said to **** with worrying about offending someone. What if Im offended that they are calling it "The Tree" and not the Christmas Tree? I guess our values and opinions dont matter.

American muslims have the constitutional right to build that mosque if the city of New York says they can. I can live with that. I dont agree with using federal money to build it. Let them spend their own money on it.

Bug are you a liberal who voted for

Obama? You sure come off that way. I can't stand people with views who support what is going on with the mosque, or anything to do with minority rights that try to crap on the American way of life. There was a link posted months ago by Steve on Muslim views of Americans from non violent Muslims and the teachings of the curan or whatever it's called. It is their faith and their faith threatens this country. Wish i had my computer to post that link.

What? First, you have a lot to learn about islam. Look up the muslim brotherhood.

Not all are detonators but every single one of them supports the destruction of Israel and anyone who helps Israel (aka the US). Its a basic tenet of their religion.

Now that's not to say that there aren't people who call themselves muslim because of their heritage but don't practice. Barring that, virtually every single muslim who practices their religion believes in what happened on 9/11.

Sure sounds a lot like the extremism that brought those buildings down in the first place.
No, it is recognizing your enemy and those that would murder civilians and then dance in the street about it. It's about being unapologetic for a bunch of murderous thugs who murder in the name of their religion.

It's about believing in an America. An America that doesn't spend MY TAX MONEY to fund a war shrine to the seething murderous wretches who killed 3,000 of our fellow citizens.

So let me get this straight. They want to use federal dollars to build a mosque here but if I went to the Middle East and asked for funds to build a church, I would probably be killed. It's not hard to figure out what we should be telling these scumbags.

I fear that in 50 years Christmas will be a fraction of what it used to be. You can't take Christ out of Christmas. It just doesn't work although the liberals will do their best to make it happen.

Not gonna argue with anyone here, bottom line is that there should be no mosque being built at ground zero, they can call it a prayer center or whatever they wish it should not be being built at that location and should never have been approved. The idea of taxpayer dollars being used for such is ludicrous and any elected officials supporting such should be removed from office as it is quite obvious the majority of people in this country outside those of muslim faith do not think it appropriate.

You got no argument from me. It is nothing more than a kick in the face after getting blindsided to the ground. When are Americans going to wake up and fight off this attack of our very way of life? Not just from the religion and its murderous teachings, but from the non Muslim bleeding heart Americans whose can't see through their rose colored glasses. At every turn we are bombarded with hidden agendas that want to rip away the very fabric of what this country is made of. Wake up people! The pot is melting.

this is true. only a reported 15% of the muslims are terror oriented. but the other 85% are sure quiet about it. another point here: a confirmed 14% of germany was nazi's. the rest were afraid to say anything. we were at war with all of germany, and bombed 100% if it to stop those 14%. let's just do it again, as it prooved to work out pretty well.

Sure sounds a lot like the extremism that brought those buildings down in the first place.

it is extremism, for sure. and it will require extreme measures taken against the muslims (ALL MUSLIMS) to squash the infectious bugs into the pavement.

if you read the koran, section 5, it clearly says that anyone who is not a muslim can either convert to a muslim or must be killed. since i don't want to convert from my lord, i'm in favor of killing my enemy when they attack me. (like the world trade center).

If the so-called peace loving muslims were peace loving, they would be out protesting this mosque's location because at best it is insensitive. In reality it is a stick in the eye of Americans and especially so to request our TAX MONEY to fund it.

Each and every time someone looks at a muslim cross eyed......whether it be profiling, drawing cartoons of muhammed, making women remove their veils for identification when voting or at court, etc.....boy that gets the muslims stirred up like a hornets nest.

If they were peace loving and they hate what happened on 9/11 like they say they do, they would be against this mosque also.

Ugh...you're kidding right? Just because I don't think like Archie Bunker makes me a "liberal"? Please.....

I'm a Libertarian, which means the only thing I detest more than conservatism is liberalism. I'm interested in perpetuating facts and the truth......not forming an opinion just because it's in contrast to what the opposition thinks.

"crap on the American way of life"!?....the American way of life is all about the underdog and minority rights and tolerance, and civility. Remember it's "One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

(This "under god" nonsense wasn't added until 1954)

What you seem to be referring to is called facism.

Let me reiterate, I completey agree with the notion that spending tax money on this would be an atrocity.

Although I certainly havent studied religion to the detailed extent that someone like Sam Harris has, I did take more than one masters level ideology class. Quite a bit of that time was spent discussing Islam and the other popular religions, and a common thread throughout was that the extremist minority often have the loudest voice.

"3000 of our fellow citizens".....Not including the attackers, up to 2 dozen of our fellow citizens killed that day were Muslim, and according to the New York Times, an additional 14 illegal immigrants were also killed. You've got yourself some faulty logic there.

.........I fear that in 50 years Christmas will be a fraction of what it used to be. You can't take Christ out of Christmas. It just doesn't work although the liberals will do their best to make it happen.

Although I don't celebrate xmas in a traditional sense, I tend to agree with this sentiment. It's ashame to have an important holiday for so many be so completely bastardized into nothing more than a consumer consumption contest. I also intended to quote the xmas tree being officially changed to "The Tree" comment. That is just pathetic, whats next? Having to refer to a menorah as "Jewish holiday wax incendiary devices"? This knee jerk, PC wannabe reaction is just ridiculous.

You call it libertarian, I call it garbage and a good example of views that are largely part of the proble

With this country. Any views or people that support Muslims, rights for terrorists, rights for illegals, etc should go move to Europe. America will be better off without them.

What a foolish response.

Libertarianism = the view that each person has the right to live his life in any way he chooses so long as he respects the equal rights of others"

Free market, Minimal Goverment, and personal liberty is my platform.

I don't recall ever supporting any "rights" for terrorists, illegal aliens, or any specific religious faction for that matter. You appear to be so blinded by irrational thought, you fail to see that this intolerance is just about as un-American as jihad. What ever happened to "land of the free"?

Well said, agree 99% I believe there are indeed muslims that are peace loving, we just hear the extremist minority. A privately regulated airline industry would've profiled those terrorists right into custody.

Luke 19:27 -

"But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and slay them in front of me."

If you think Christianity (I'm making the assumption you're Christian) is any less a violent religion than Islam, you are sorely mistaken.

This is America however, and we're all free to worship (or not) as we please, and although I may not suscribe to someones belief system I respect the freedom they have to do so. As long as they respect my freedom to do the same.

The people responsible for 9/11 should be served swift and unforgiving justice. Not all muslims are responsible for 9/11.
