redkneck Posted November 28, 2010 Report Share Posted November 28, 2010 Took my neighbor's grandson hunting today. He's 14, lives in Atlanta and never been hunting before, down for Thanksgiving. Had 7 does in the field and I asked him if he wanted to take one. He says "What would you do?" I told him that if I had never taken a deer I would probably take the shot, knowing any minute a good buck might walk out, but also any minute they may all spook and we'd go home empty handed. He decided to shoot, and I give the kid credit, he was nervous but steady, and put it on the money at 60 yards with my 45-70 and she piled up within 40 yards. Wish I had brought my camera to capture his grin. Always happy to bring a kid on his first hunt, I really hate nobody takes him hunting.
