Shaun_300
How many people put these up and actually enjoy doing it? I am not a scrooge by any means. I like Christmas and everything. But I absolutely HATE putting the Christmas lights up, it's my job every year. My blood pressure skyrockets to it's yearly high this afternoon. We had icicle lights for the first time last year, I can't imagine how fun it's going to be untangling those God forsaken things. Then you have the regular lights, check all the bulbs on the ground, change the burnt out ones, step on a few in the process, have to pick them out of the sockets with pliers, get them all up and there's STILL bulbs out, get the ladder back up... etc... Anyways gonna get at it! Here goes nothing....
lil hunter
Why not just leave 'em up all year long? Flip the breaker back on after Thanksgiving, maybe replace a bulb or two and you're good to go! I used to enjoy putting them up, for the first year or two. Then it became expected of me, and that just ruins it everytime. They won't let me put lights all over the barracks this year though, so I don't have to worry about it. lol
stevebeilgard
at my age, i just grab my back, hunch over a bit, limp a little and the kids take over. old age and trechery are no match for youth and exuberance. lol you're still a kid, shawn. does this sound a bit familiar??? Shaun_300
All done! That actually went really good compared to other years. Think I only changed one bulb, didn't break any. The icicle lights weren't a headache to untangle surprisingly. It was actually a nice quiet time outside on a nice day.

Alisha
I'm sorry Shaun, but I literally laughed out loud while reading your post. Justin and I started rigging up some Christmas lights outside last night but never came close to finishing. Lobster fishing started today so I'm on my own to do the rest of it. :surrender: I love how they look, but can't stand putting them up. As a side note, we also put up the pine garland and needless to say, I'm TERRIBLE with the staple gun. :helpsmilie: I need an extra box of staples just to compensate for all my missed attempts. :clown:
Tominator
Kids have been bugging me to put some up this year since we actually have an outside outlet on the new house. Might have to put up some of those new LED jobbers. :2guns::angel1:
c_lou
Got mine up on Sunday. I have a few more to go. I enjoy putting them up but hate taking them down.
TBow
My only real "BAH HUMBUG" kick about xmas is all the dadgum xmas music they play on the radio stations! I have come to absolutely HATE it! They start mid November (on the radio stations I play all year) with Alvin & The Chipmunk type of xmas crap, then play it until early January. WHAT IN THE WORLD makes those morons at the radio stations think that I no longer want to listen to top country or pop chart music, and in lieu desire chanting along to "Frosty The Snowman?". GOOD GRIEF Charlie Brown! Oh ya baby.....BAH HUMBUG! Oops forgot.....happy holiday season everyone! :disolve: TBow

arrow32
Put some up the other day. Didn't go all out like normal.lol I don't mind putting them up I just hate taking them down. Shaun the best way to store them things if you have a place to do it is put a few nails in the wall then string them over the nails that way there hanging there and they won't get tangled. Works very well.
philray
I have to agree. Nothing worse than hanging Christmas lights. I don't know how many times I have told the wife to buy new ones so I didn't have to untangle and replace bulbs. Last couple of years I was able to come up with an excuse and got out of it, but this year my wife and five year old have informed me that lights are going up no matter what. GWSmith
I'm thinking of going around the Windows this year with a Staple Gun and cut-outs of Mylar so they reflect the neighbors lights...LOL
BearClaw
I just put mine up today. I don't really like doing it only because they never go up the same each year. Every time I have to figure out which lights go where and which garland goes there. It's done and it looks good but I'm glad they are up. A lot earlier than last year too!
