KirkV
Anybody ever have any dealings with it? I have had my dominant arm affected for over 4 months now, and 3 weeks ago I saw a specialist who took me off work and has been putting on topical anti inflamitory's. The problem is it still hurts! Not to the degree it did but I know if I go back to my instrument electrical job I will probably get it worse again. I see the doctor again tomorrow and it is possible a cortisone injection is coming at that appointment. I am wondering if I may actually have a tear in the tendon as he has not done a MRI on it yet. The crappy thing is off work for 3 weeks and I if you were to look at me you would never know I had a problem until I tried to pick up a cup of coffee with my right hand. LOL:mad: Any insight from any members here? Thanks Kirk
gone_postal
I am suffering through it right now.......had a cortisone shot the end of August and it's wearing off as I can feel the pain return. Have had it in both elbows now.......the cortisone shots are GREAT, but will only provide a few months worth of relief for you and then you'll need another one. After my limit of shots were up for the year, my doctor ordered physical/ heat therapy for the pain in the elbow. It took a couple months of therapy, but I can bet it was almost pain free by the time I was done. The good part is it never returned in that elbow again! Good luck and just wanted to give you a couple ideas to think about. It is the worst pain possible! You have my deepest sympathy! wtnhunt
Never had tennis elbow, but do suffer from what our family doctor says is tendonitis issues in my shoulder, can get pretty bad at times. Good luck with the cortisone shot if you get one Kirk. Had one for my arm and it hurt like heck for a while and did not resolve any of my problems. I would never take another cortisone shot again. KirkV
Well doc said 3 more weeks off of work to let it heal............... DANG. It has been slowly feeling better though, a slow heal for sure.
ruttinbuc
Hope it gets better for you, Kirk. I went through the mill with tendonitis which I "developed " through my job and the work I did. I had it in my wrists and elbows. The handling work along with the weight of the products helped in "training" the muscles in my arms. Trouble was those muscles didn't need to be trained. Of course the company insisted it was something from my past. Everything from holding my fork wrong to shuffling cards.... Anyway it was a bunch of visits to the CO doctor and a wrist braces and forearm stabilizers, to the ice packs after work, to hot shots, to cortisone. The only thing that worked was getting off the job I was on. I used to wake up with no movement in my hands and arms. Something from my past alright. I have not had a problem since. I have been having shoulder problems, but they too are getting better. The pain sometimes wakes me in the night. Once I am up and around and doing the stretching exercises it seems fine. However, there are times when I will reach for something and it is as if someone stabs me with a dagger right in the joint...:surrender: Hang in their bud! Their is some truth in the phrase, "It sucks getting old"
Wilfinator
Have been dealing with it in my right elbow for the whole of hunting season (mid August til now). This was supposed to be my first season of bow hunting but haven't been able to pull my bow for a couple of months now. Even with the cortisone shot, it has been slow to heal. Best you can do is hang in there and let healing take its course. As as side note, physio did very little to help in my case. I have an excellent chiropractor who used to work with a pro football team. He was able to make progress with it in only a couple of visits. At least I can work again and hold a cup of coffee. Hope it heals up for you soon.
m gardner
I had it probably 20 years ago and with the cortisone injections it went away. But I think that it really went away because our company was purchased and moved overseas and I had to find a different job that didn't require as much hand work. It's been fine since.
