The_Kat
I wasn't able to post pics on here, but I was able to nail my first bow buck while I was home. I missed a bruiser with MCH a few days earlier. I was really shook up over missing the buck, because after the shot deflected off a limb, he ran and stood right under my stand for about 45 seconds. I literally coulda jumped on this deer. Anyways, I made myself get back in the woods and sure enough this guy came in following a doe. I was setup near a pecan grove right in the middle of a creek crossing. Around 7AM I was texting my buddies and seeing what was up in their areas when the sound of leaves caught my attention. I look up to see a doe leisurely walking my way followed by this guy. They weren't chasing, more less just passing through. It was obvious they were together, but were a far cry from the rut crazed action you'd be used to seeing with a buck n doe pair. The doe crossed the creek and the buck stay on the bank. I wasn't sure if he was gonna follow her or not, but as she walked on she let out a bleat and here he came. I let him make it half way up the bank and let her fly from 20 yards. I was fairly sure I hit him back, but climbed down anyways. I ventured to where the arrow was and saw what looked like paint brushed blood highlighting the trail to my buck. However there was seedy looking stuff on the arrow which screamed gut. I wanted to trail him right there, but given the shot placement I went to the truck with my stand. I tried my hardest to wait, but after seeing the bloodtrail the first time I decided to try and trail him after about 25 minutes. I didn't even have to bend down to find blood. In no time I saw him layed up in the leaves lights out! He went maybe 80 yards...if that. This buck is the best buck ever taken off our land since my grandparents bought it back in the 70's. Pics don't do him much justice at all. Although he is weaker on one side, he is wall hanger in my book. He looks around the same size as the buck I took last year, but he dwarfs him. For my first bow buck, I couldn't be happier. As for the buck I missed with Kevin...I hope he gets him. He's even better than this one! That's exactly what he would have done. Congrats Kyle, that is a great deer.

MCH
Congratulations again bud! Nice buck! As for the one you missed, I'm pretty sure he was spotlighted last week and shot. Rumor has it, the neighbor allowed some young kids to hunt their property and they shot him breeding some does.
