too_pointer
I know the recoil from the big boys is pretty rough. I would like to know what you guys use on your rifles ? I'm pretty sure that I want the 300 Win. Mag, now need to know what scopes can handle the punishment ? What do you guys use. I have always used Nikons pretty much. If this calibur is good out to 400-500 yards, what power do you need to see out that far ? Is the higher mag like 12x, 14x, or higher the choice ? Thanks all for help. too_
bucknut
The caliber is more than capable of taking down an animal at that distance and farther as long as do your part. As for scopes, I am partial to Leupolds. a VX3 in 4.5X14 with a Boone and Crockett reticle would work nicely
m gardner
I like the 4X Weaver with the duplex. Very little to go wrong. Plenty of magnification to shoot big game out to 500 yards. It's what I have on my 300 win mag right now. Mark

Right now I'm trying the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 on a 25-06 and though it may not have that much recoil, the scope has the ability to handle it. Both scopes are great in low light condition, and I would not hesitate to put either on any gun.

Strut10
Your Nikon of choice will stand up to it. The .300 Win Mag is not the monster some make it out to be.
too_pointer
I have an almost never used Mueller 4.5x14 APV that is super clear and I really like. I might try that on the 300. I wish I could ask some dealers if they think it would hold up. Any opinions on that ? I'll have to look around. Thanks everyone. too_ http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MAPV451440
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Both my son and I are using Bushnell Trophy series scopes on our 7 mm mags. They are 6 - 18 power when you want to really reach out you need parralax adjustment and in my opinion more power than a 9 power. Mine has held up for about 4 years now and about a month ago I resighted in to 200 yds. my last two shots were in the bull and only 1/2 inch apart. That is 1/4 moa. Those scopes are not all that expensive either.
Grady269
Scope I bought a 300 Win Mag barrel for my Encore and it sat in the closet for 2 years for some reason. I got it out this year and mounted a 5-15 Bushnell 3200 on it. I loaded up some 130 gr Barnes Tipped TSX bullets and took it out for a try with the intention of it being a long range gun. Rifle did great sighted in dead on @ 200 yds. I have only fired about 20 rds out of it but no complaints about the scope either. Killed a Yote with it last week @ 275yds, made a big hole.
