Re: Favorite Baseball player.

Scott Rolen is a great player.

I really like David Ortiz. He can crush a ball but also deliver a nice single or double when the oppurtunity is there. He seems to come up up big when needed a lot of times and is not intimidated by any pitcher. His personality is out of this world and he always has a big smile. A great team player.

Re: Favorite Baseball player.

I dont think I have a favorite to be honest. I became a big David Ortiz fan last fall.....I've always liked Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, and some other guys. I love watching Bonds hit...even if he is on something.....I've never seen a guy consistantly put the fat part of the bat on the ball like he does.

ROFLMAO @ dogdoc!

Nolan Ryan doesn't get enough respect, IMO. I guess he likes it that way - staying out of the spotlight - except for the Advil commercials.

He is one of, if not the, greatest pitchers ever. No doubt the toughest.

Re: Favorite Baseball player.

Geez, that's a tough question!

Old timers:

Gosh, too many to name, but a few of my favorites have to be Cal Ripken, Boog Powell, Andre Thornton, Duane Kuiper, Mike Hargrove, Gaylord Perry.

Present day is a little tougher. It seems as soon as you get attached to someone, the free agency dollars fly in, and they head off to the arch rival--Albert Bell, Manny Ramirez, the Alomar brothers, et. al. Presently, I'd have to say Omar Vizquel is still one of my favorites. Flashy player, fun to watch, pretty grounded and he actually still plays for the Indians--I think. grin.gif

Re: Favorite Baseball player.

Dale Murphy is my all time favorite since childhood, nowadays I have to go with John Smoltz, not sure how much longer he's gonna be around though. I wish one of my good friends careers had played out though, Jonathan Johnson, star pitcher from Florida State, 1st Round Pick for the Rangers , started for them, the Astros and the Padres but too many injuries forced him to give it up 2 years ago. I was really hoping to see him in the Hall of Fame one day.
