need2hunt
So my next questions are... Of the shot placements mentioned in the previous post... BROADSIDE QUARTERING TO FRONTAL QUARTERING AWAY STRAIGHT DOWN Which ones do you shoot when you are practicing? And secondly do what do you practice with? (3d Target, block target, etc) Almost done will post one more set of questions tomorrow
VermontHunter
I mostly practice ..... BROADSIDE QUARTERING AWAY I use 3-D, Block and Bag Targets at variable ranges on an almost daily basis.

need2hunt
I practice on both a block and 3d. I practice the broadside and quartering away. And now that everyone has stepped into the trap Mr. Smoot..... LOL while it may seem like a well placed trap set-up by no doubt some mastermind of pure genius you may all look at who started the threads and realize just not capable LOL. I am not doing this to bash anyone or make them feel ____ (insert whatever) but I am doing this for a reason. If anyone thinks that this might put them in bad light to the point you would change your answer to appease the masses then I would rather have you not answer than not answer truthfully And as for you Chris - (insert hand wave) these are not the droids you are looking for LOL:saber:
92xj
When I was bowhunting a lot two years ago, I practiced every shot listed plus more on a 3-d target all out of a tree stand or off the roof of the house, depending on which practice location I was at. m gardner
I shoot from all angles except straight down (spot and stalk, no treestand hunting). I also shoot through the brush so I can slip the arrow through lots of trash and hit what I want. There is a 14 target 3-D range at the club. I really began to put a hurt on game when I began shooting the Field Archery course too. Mark
wtnhunt
Mostly broadside, practice quartering away but not as often and those are on a glendel standard 3d target. Also have practiced straight down on a block type target some. Usually shoot elevated for practice sessions, but do some shooting from ground level as well. Use the block targets for the muzzy's, they wear the inserts out prematurely on the 3d.
GWSmith
I do practice every shot...the straight down shot is simulated by sitting in a chair with my feet up. Block target, 3-D, and Bag targets are used. Not worried about any "Trap" if I personally feel like I've practiced enough I'll take the shot. If I dont feel absolutely positive about the situation it walks.
Ravin R10 man
mostly practice quartering away, some broadside I use a 3-d Glendel Buck Edited December 12, 2010 by Mathews XT Man
huntnfish
I practice mostly with block or bag usually just broadside shots for the majority of the year. I try to do this 2-5 per wk, depending on weather. When July rolls around I set-up 3-d and usually do broadside, quartering away and elevated out of childrens playground. I still probably practice 97% of the time broadside.
ruttinbuc
I shoot at a Morrell range target at spots. I practice broadhead shooting at spots on a Styrofoam test block. From shooting 3D I learned the anatomy of most animals and where to put the arrow.
Straight Shooter
I practice all angle's with deer targets and a block target.
TN Bucknasty
I shoot 3d with my broadheads from all angles. Sometimes I have my neighbor's kids pick up the target and run with it so I can practice on a moving object. Just kidding.
3seasons
I practive from the ground, a blind, and a stand. I shoot broadside and quartering away mostly and straight down just to keep me fresh. I shoot a bag targert, shotblocker block, and a glendel buck. I will shoot up to 100yds just for fun, it really helps you on those closer shots.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I practice broadside and quartering away shots the most... I shoot a bag target and a 3d. the other shots I have taken but only on rare occasions when the deer are close and I feel confident I can make it. Tony
Broadside shot Quartering To Frontal Quartering Away Straight Down shot i practice all of these shots except the straight down shot and the frontal shot on my 3D deer or antelope target. i wont ever take a straight down shot or a frontal shot. the angle is just wrong and i would rather wait for the deer to move away from me then shoot it quartering away. one of the things i do when i practice is when i use my 3d target, i put a black dot on the spot i want to shoot this provides me with a exact aiming point for the quatering away and the quartering to shots. once i become familiar where i need to aim exactly, then i take the dot away and shoot my normal practice. i find after a long summer i need to get my eyes accustomed to where i need to aim. all of these shots are practiced with broadheads also. buckee
I practice with a block and 3d also & I practice the broadside and quartering away, because they are the most ethical shots to take.
