HeviShot
I don't know about you guys but I think they need to rethink that idea.It has been nothing but problems so far.I hate to see these guys struggle like this. What do y'all think? mainebuck
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? I think it's too early to tell. I wouldn't necessarily say it's been the crew chiefs that have caused their issues. There are a lot of varialbes, like the new qualify then race with no working on the cars deal. MichiganHuntr1
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? I dont know if its bad, in my opinion, it will help out both drivers in the long run. If you look at it, both of then havent done good yet. Sure, Junior got 3rd at Daytona, but thats not good in my books. Mikey blew up twice, and junior finished in the back last weekend. Nothing has shown for either driver so far.
snapper
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? Well, my take on the issue...Mikey really isn't that good...never really was, never really will be (IMO). Jr. finished 3rd in Daytona and if you look at the past races in Cali....he doesn't race well there. Give it a few more weeks...Jr. will move up and Mikey will continue to slide back! Chrud
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? Well, Junior was 3rd at Daytona and 32nd at Fontana, a place he has always been terrible at. Mikey was the car to beat at Daytona and was in the top 15 at Fontana, blew up at both places. I think they'll be fine.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? I don't think it was the best thing to do for either driver. But i don't think it will hurt either of them to bad at the end of the year with the way the points chase is.Jr. will make the chase and Mikee will miss by a handfull of positions. JimT
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? No one knows where Mike would have finished if his cars stayed togather. Besides that, he actually looks pretty good this year. Jr made a great comeback at Daytona, and did his usual in Cali. He would have done better for sure if his car was not horrible. Besides that, he actually looks pretty good this year. [/ QUOTE ] He always looks "good" at the begining of the season...but never ends the year good. Maybe my thinking is wrong and someone could get some facts, but has Mikey ever been on the stage in NY for the awards banquet? How many seasons has he been in the Cup series? I just feel there are alot of upcoming stars that DEI could put in that car that would do a much better job. I like Mikey, but he just don't got it (IMO). snapper
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? Ok..did some searching. While Waltrip had always been a competitive driver through the '80s and '90s -- he had even won The Winston in 1996 -- he had the dubious honor of having the longest active streak of Cup point-paying starts without a victory. That 463-race streak ended at the 2001 Daytona 500. Later that same season, he finished second behind teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the Pepsi 400, also at Daytona. Driver Highlights AS OF 2004: 4 Nextel Cup victories 2004: 9 top-10 finishes 2004: Finished 20th in points 2003: Finished 15th in points 2003: Daytona 500 winner 2002: Pepsi 400 winner 2001: Daytona 500 winner 19 years and never been in the top 10 in the points at the end of the year. You think maybe his 20th year he'll be there? There are drivers who been in the series for alot less time with a heck of alot more wins than that. IowaDeerHunter
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? How old is Mikee (Don't mean to change the subject) but I think it is to early to tell if the swap hurt them. Like some others said, they both had there usual runs @ daytona and california. [ QUOTE ] There are drivers who been in the series for alot less time with a heck of alot more wins than that. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, but they aren't as popular as Michael. Michael has a large fan base and sells lots of T-shirts, hats and misc. collectibles. NAPA and DEI also reap from those rewards, which are pretty substantial than a lot of drivers with more wins and even a Championship. [ QUOTE ] NAPA and DEI also reap from those rewards, which are pretty substantial than a lot of drivers with more wins and even a Championship. [/ QUOTE ] I will agree on that...however, how would NAPA and DEI fair if they had say Ryan Newman or Matt Kenseth or anyone of the "newer" drivers that win? I think Mikey gets most of his popularity because of his brother and DEI...not because of Mikey. Besides this post wasn't about how popular he was...it was more about how sucessful Jr. and Michael are. Like I said before...I like Mikey, just don't think he has what it takes to win a championship!
spyderpancake
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? I think the swap will work. Give it a little time. Look at Kenseth and Bobby Labonte in the points-they are getting a slow start too. I like Mikey, and he is a good driver, but i agree, he will never win a Championship. spyderpancake
Re: Earnhardt and Waltrip swap? well, they did the right thing, family quarrels and stuff caused them to run bad some. I think everyone has more respect for each other now.
