redkneck
Wife wanted to do some updating, so I promised her a new floor in the living room before the tree went down. Sunday afternoon, I finally got that done. Furniture truck delivered yesterday (you can't get a new floor without new furniture so I am told... ) Still got crown to shoot up and some more painting, but hopefully I'll be in a tree before long. Took a few dim pics this morning of the new look. tree... presents still to be wrapped. Still got blinds to get hung today. Jody piled up this morning, and the lab's eyes shining outside. Hopefully get this all finished soon, before moving on to the next room. Not a dream home by any stretch of the imagination, but a much nicer update than the old carpet and dark paneling. The sectional sat pretty bad too.
92xj
How many square feet did you do and where did you purchase from? This is something I am wanting to do in my new house but I have about 1150 square feet (large living roon, kitchen, den, dining room and hallway) that run all together that I will have to do in one shot, which I am thinking is going to be really expensive. wtnhunt
Looks good John, shoulda got some before shots. Not much fun crawling on the knees working on flooring, at least not as you get a little older and in cold weather, would much rather be crawling to sneak up on a deer. lol. Loft boards in the new house opened up quite a bit on me, had to hand trowel in floor sealer in those gaps this past weekend. Been unable to get in as much hunting as I would like with working on stuff around the house too. Think even after we are finished and moved in I still won't ever be done. This is what I used Ben: http://www.lumberliquidators.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1826 Takes a good bit longer to put down because the planks are about 3.25" wide, instead of most laminates that are twice that. They gave me about a 10% discount since I had to drive to Birmingham to get it (Jackson, MS store was out). Not bad, was about $1,100 total for materials for the floor. I still got a lot of trim work to do, opened up a doorway into a room off the living room, and have to case it out this weekend. I don't mind the saw and nail work, it's the painting and staining I hate.

redkneck
Thanks, what was your total square feet? 375 in that room. Figure on about 10% waste or so in your calculations when you go and budget how many boxes you'll need.
redkneck
We chose that flooring because of the textured surface and the edges are chamfered so that they really appear as individual boards in the light. I'm not crazy about the cheaper stuff that almost looks like linoleum because of how smooth it is on top.
redkneck
The hand-scraped stuff looked nice too. They got them in laminates, engineered wood, and solid wood. http://www.lumberliquidators.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=6879
Rhino
Dang John...you're supposed to save those kind of projects until after spring turkey season is over! Hummm...then again maybe you're building up brownie points before mid March. Looks great and the finishing touches will be the crown molding. Hope y'all enjoy the new look for years to come! So, for 375sqft your total for materials was the above price? Dang, I might just have to wait a little bit longer to do 4 times that amount.
