Rugermk2
Hi everyone, Its The 15th of December in central IL, and I still don't have a buck on the ground. I seen a couple of really nice bucks around Nov 6 of course when the rut was really in full swing, and I shot underneath a Giant by about 4 inches!!!! This is my first year bow hunting, and I put the 30 yard pin on a 40 yard deer!!!!! Plus the shaking didn't help I'm sure!!!! Anyways I haven't been out that much since then, but I haven't seen anything that big. I need some help, does anyone have any ideas? I have about 6 cut cornfields, and each one of them has a fair amount of corn left from harvest on the ground. The bad thing is they all have deer sign, and I can't pin point which one to hunt. My stand I shot out of during the rut is in the timber. What would You guys do?
mike13candace
Step away from the keyboard and get in stand. LOL You cant shoot one from where you are at.. Lucky to have a great location with some monster animals. Good Luck!
jcot2773
Play the wind... Hunting fields is a tricky thing... locate a pinch point either going to the field or coming out of. Then hang your stand and hunt. Now quit typing and go hunting

AceArcher
I have the same problem. I am still giving it my all. No big bucks on the ground yet and blew my one great chance on a giant earlier this year. I would suggest getting on a funnel leading into one of those corn fields tonight or in the morning with the weather that is blowing in. The bucks should be getting some colories b/f the snow/ice blows in. I took a sit this morning and saw a the really big buck...I think it is the same one that I shot on Nov. 27th. So he is still in on his feet which makes me happy to know. Where you at in Central IL? If you need help picking a stand I could always help you a little. hunter109
i would find out where most of the deer are comming or going and sit up there because they will use the same trails usualy and st on the down wind side
huntermq32
They should be yarded up so if you can be patient and try doing some long distant glassing. If you can't do that then wait for a fresh snow and check every field edge and pick the spot with the most tracks.Late winter can be very tuff but when you find were the deer are yarding it makes it alot easier. good luck.
