I need to get a scope saddle for the NEW Remington M887 Nitro Mag apparently this shotgun is still so new to the market I'm not finding any accessory listings for yet ...

Am I wrong in thinking that since it's the 870 frame, that those accessories should work for this model as well ?? ..

Any suggestions ,, or where I can get a good deal on a saddle for this shotgun ???

I do not know the answer to your question but have you considered having the receiver drilled and tapped for a Weaver style base?

If it is the same receiver as an 870 maybe that would be an option for you. It is a solid set up.

Actually I have been considering that option. I would like to be able to waterfowl hunt as well so I was looking at this scope as an option, and I'm really considering it ..

I actually found a real nice deal price wise as well ..

Would you use that scope for waterfowling also? A friend of mine bought a scope made by Barska. Not that one though and he likes it.

I was hoping to be able to leave that scope on and use it for waterfowling also, but I've never even handled one of these scopes, so I have no idea if it would work well for wing shooting ...

LOL .. Lynn, I think the word you were looking for was phobia ,, I definately don't have any fetishes ... ;)

THAT is good to know! Yea, maybe I did use a poor choice of words. LOL! Got your attention though.

To make it up to you, I'll call the product manager @ Remington tomorrow and ask him.

I sold him a mod. 29 shotgun a short while back he really wanted and we kind of got to know one another.

P.S.-- I hate phones too!

Overview:

Born of the gunmaking expertise that brought you the best-selling, most trusted shotgun of all time – the Model 870™ – the new Model 887™ Nitro Mag is an armor-clad warrior here to carry the torch of our great pump-gun legacy through the most extreme conditions on earth. The most durable and reliable shotgun ever built, it has no external surfaces to rust. Our exclusive ArmorLokt™ construction process seals the receiver and barrel in a vault of weather-impervious synthetic armor, so you can wipe it down with your wet dog or a decoy bag at the end of the day. Its overmolded surface is built to withstand abrasion in the trenches, whether that’s barbed wire, gnarly thorns or the bottom of a Jon boat. And when it’s time for action, our revolutionary new SuperCell™ recoil pad so effectively reduces rearward force that it makes a 3" mag 12 gauge feel like a light field load. This is our softest-shooting pump gun ever. That means enhanced confidence on the first shot and smoother, faster follow-ups.

Because the Model 887 Nitro Mag’s design is inspired by the strength and dependability of our Model 870, you can count on it to cycle flawlessly and stand up to abuse like no other. Similar to the Model 870, its receiver is manufactured from solid steel, and the barrel is hammer-forged. Our ArmorLokt process packages it all under a weather-impermeable outer shell. Twin steel action bars ensure smooth, positive chambering and ejection for the long haul. And the sleek receiver design, awesome balance and natural pointing characteristics spell trouble for any bird within reach of its 12-gauge 3 1/2" Super Magnum capability. The extremely rugged synthetic stock and fore-end are ergonomically contoured to offer a positive grip and comfortable handling. Swivel studs are built-in.

The Model 887 Nitro Mag Waterfowl Camo is dressed from butt to bore in vivid, high-detail Advantage MAX-4 HD™ camouflage. It has a 28" barrel with a solid rib, and comes with an extended Over Decoys Rem Choke that’s optimized for non-toxic waterfowl loads. Both versions feature a Hi-Viz™ front sight with interchangeable fiber-optic light tubes to maximize visibility for the conditions.

Key Features:

  • Action design based on the venerable Model 870â„¢ – ultra-smooth and reliable
  • Rugged ArmorLoktâ„¢ coating totally prevents rust on all exterior surfaces
  • SuperCellâ„¢ recoil pad reduces the felt recoil up to 54%
  • Our softest-shooting pump gun ever
  • Awesome balance and natural pointing characteristics
  • Handles 12-gauge 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" loads interchangeably
  • Rugged synthetic stock and fore-end with specially contoured grip panels
  • 28" barrel with solid rib and Hi-Viz front sight with interchangeable light tubes
  • Sling swivel studs built-in
  • Includes Modified Rem Choke

V-H, I have an 870 with a side mount scope mount. I can measure the center to center of the trigger assembly pins [ now bolts ] and measure the width of the receiver to see if it matches up with the 887.

If you do the same we can make a comparison.

Lynn

dartonman made a generous offer. If for some reason it didn't work you could always send it back to him.

The Christmas spirit lives on!

I measured c to c on the pins: 2" Receiver is 1.350" wide.

Just measured the scope saddle, which goes on both sides, and the bolts go through it (you'll need long bolts for this) I can't ship the bolts, their holding my sons gun together...lol...anyway...from the center of the first bolt hole, to the center of the second bolt hole is exactly two inches, so Luke, the mount is yours.....sorry folks, it truly is the only one I have...............al

In reference to your duck hunting question. You will need a comb raising kit or you will go nuts trying to find that dot wingshooting.

http://www.cabelas.com/stocks-grips-accessories-beartooth-comb-raising-kit.shtml

Even then it's gonna take some getting used to, so try shooting some skeet with it.

The comb raising kit also takes "cheek slap" down considerably. It's much more comfortable to shoot a scoped shotgun with the comb kit on it. ;)

Leo, this is why I leaned more towards the saddle mount instead of a fixed base. I can remove the saddle mount along with the scope as one unit when I wanted to wing shoot. ;)

I've heard and read too many negative things about trying to wing shoot with any type of scope attached.

Lynn, I will need those pins when I'm not using the saddle mount, but I'd be happy to purchase a set of pins for Al's son's 870, they are only about $5 bucks each from what I'm seeing .. :)
