LOL ...

I emailed B-Square on the price and availability on a new set of trigger plate bolts and they offered to send me a free set .. can't beat that for service, so I should be seeing those soon .. :)

By any chance, did you ask B-Square if the mount would interchange?

I haven't finished packing yet!

LOL

Well my lack of making the right inquries has bit me in the butt once again ...:o

Just got the Saddle mount from Al, and she don't fit ... :(

The trigger pin holes line up perfectly, but the 887 is wider than the 870 and the trigger pins on the 887 are the same size (smaller), where on the 870 they are 2 differnt sizes .. Live and learn .. lol

So Al, since you didn't charge me for the mount, what would you like me to do with it ?? Send it back to you or sell it ?? I will abide by your wishes my friend .. and I appreciate your attempt to help me out ... THANKS Buddy ..

I have inquirys in to B-Square and Midwayusa .. at this time in hopes of some info ...

Sell it Luke, so you can get the mount you need buddy.....Im so sorry it didn't work out for you, makes me sad......use what you can get for it, to get a mount for your gun buddy.........it came off a remington 870 express, and its a solid mount.....best wishes...al

Okie Dokie Al ,, just wanted to be on the same page as you ... ;)

And, you are going to love this. I just found an E-Mail my friend at Remington sent me where he said it wouldn't fit. Somehow I got it mixed up with another E-Mail and had moved it to trash but didn't delete it forever.

Lynn

No problem Lynn, I have a gentleman at Remington checking into a few opitions for me ... I do appreciate your efforts in helping me out ... Worse case senario I have to go with a rail system ..

Here we go again.

I dug out my 870 and checked the side mount I have for the scope. This mounts on the left side of the receiver with two bolts and nuts which also replace the original pins. The mount does not go over the receiver but rises about 1/2" above it. The scope mounts are integral with the mount.

This mount came with an 1100 I bought from a friend about 10 or more years ago. I have had it on my 870 for nearly that long. I have shot this gun alot and never have had a problem with it.

There is no brand name on the mount. Just:

885SGM

U.S. Patent 3835052

Canada Patent 996341

Japan

I have seen these before but never paid that much attention to ask about one.

It was off this 870 I got the original dimensions for the pins etc.

Maybe someone with a little more computer savvay than I can decipher the pat. # and come up with manufacturer.

Getting the receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts might be an option if the metal will hold threads. Some shotguns nowadays have alloy receivers that don't have much thread strength.

Go see a good gunsmith and he can probably do it for less than a saddle mount.

I was hoping to avoid this option Leo, as I also wanted to use this shotgun for goose and duck as well ... but it's looking to be my only viable option if I want to use my Red Dot for Turkeys ..

I'll do you one better. I have the mount that was referred to in the PM. Do you think it might work? Measure the length of the trigger assembly pins and let me know. I have the pins out of my 870 and I will measure them.

Perhaps we can make a trade if it will help you out.

Lynn

Sorry, no pictures! LOL

I don't think it will work Lynn, both of the trigger pins in my 887 are the same diameter, and in the 870 there are 2 different diameter pins .. The larger pin is the problem pin ..

Like I said tho ,, you are more than welcome to this mount if it's something you are interest in ,, if not I'll just keep it advertised for sale .. ;)

Just got this email from B-Square on the Saddle Mount Issue ..

From: Paul, Chris (US NON-SSA)

Subject: RE: saddlemount

We are aware of this newer Remington 887 over molded pump shotgun Sir. It is a very nice design but this will require that we build a new extrusion for it. We have discussed this weapon in our R&D meets so hopefully we will make it soon Sir.

I have a feeling you will have a mount in hand soon. With Remington being so popular and all the attributes of the 887 the mounts are sure to be produced soon.

I like that gun and wouldn't hesitate to buy one myself if I needed another shotgun. Ummm.. maybe I do! Even if you had to hunt a season with open sights, it will be worth the wait.

Well after all of the email and phone call inquires it looks like my M887 is going to be drilled and tapped for a V-Rail from Remington to mount my Red Dot on.

Obviously, this wasn't my first choice but due to the lack of accessories and inquiries as to maybe when accessories may be available this is my only option at this time if I want to use my Bushnell Trophy Red Dot this may for Turkey season.

I just want to say THANK-YOU to those of you that tried to help me out with my questions and inquries ... :)

Maybe I'll have some pics to show of a nice Tom Turkey that was tagged by this New M887 ... lol
