jesse8953
What shells did you use this season? I used Remington hypersonic 3 inch #2 for ducks & geese both. They pack a pretty good punch! I put more birds down with less shooting this year.I don't know if it was the shells or me starting to learn leading and following through. My 2nd year waterfowling and I shot a lot better than the 1st year. Jeramie
I'm sure it was that fact that you're seasoning that made most of the difference. I use the cheap Winchester 3" loads in number 2 with a modified choke. Most of the shots I take are pretty close so a full choke isn't really needed. hutchies
Winchester HV 3" #4's with modified or full choke depending on distance.
Hardwood_HD
i started using the Remington HyperSonic shells this year as well, using 3" #4 on ducks and 3" BB on geese. I cant believe how they knock the birds down up till now i always used Xpert 4s and BB. Not a big fan of Remington ammo but these i like! HUNTINGMAN
I have tried all the fancy high dollar stuff and nothing shoots better than the cheaper Winchesters out of my SBEII, so thats is what I use and love them. 3.5 #2s 1 3/8. Only person here useing 3.5" shells. I have never waterfowled before but was just wondering why everyone shoots the 3" shells? I have thought about going for some ducks or geese and was just curious as to shell choice,is it performance or is it just the less recoil. 92xj
I'm man and not afraid of my recoil, thats why I shoot a 3.5! But really. A 3.5 #2 has more shot in it than a 3" #4. So I am getting bigger shot as well as more shot and have it coming out of my gun faster. I like that. I also have the possibility of shooting Canadas in all of my duck spots and like the #2s on them. But then again when I hunt non goose days, I still shoot 3.5s. Its nice to be able to reach out and drop birds when I have friends in the blind that shoot their 3 times and the bird is still flying and I shoot last and drop the thing. If your shoulder can handle it, I would say go for it. I have been through almost 2 cases of shells this year with hunting and all my pre season skeet shooting. My shoulder can handle it well. Plus, my gun is like shooting a BBgun anyways. SBEII
hoosierhunter
I've shot hevishot 3 inch #2's on ducks and B on Geese. I've been thinking of going to black cloud BB for geese. What experience does anyone have with blackcloud specifically on geese?
92xj
I've shot hevishot 3 inch #2's on ducks and B on Geese. I've been thinking of going to black cloud BB for geese. What experience does anyone have with blackcloud specifically on geese? I have shot 3.5BB at geese in Black cloud and 3" #2s for duck in Black cloud. Hammered both of them dead, but then again, any other shell I shoot through my gun hammers them dead. I think I am just a dang good shot with my gun because no matter what I use I kill birds. With the research I have done, I now shoot the cheapest things I can find and have zero problems killing loads of birds. Now, put a different gun in my hand or a buddies gun and I cant hit the broad side of a barn with the first two boxes of shells. I honestly dont think shells matter at all. As long as they fire, they will kill whatever it is they are aimed at. If the aiming sucks then they dont kill and thats not the shells fault. Buy cheap and practice often, thats my motto and it's working greatly for me.

hoosierhunter
I just got done reading a great deal about BC because so many people are having mixed results. From what I can tell BC shoots best out of IC chokes. The more you choke the load the worse the pattern gets from what I can tell. A ton of guys seem to be having that problem but I was amazed at how many seemed to have not done any online research when it comes to what choke to shoot BC out of. I think I might give it a shot coming up as from what I hear it's absolutely the most devestating load given equal patterning parameters. 92xj
Given all patterns are completely equal, it all comes down to 100% shot placement and aiming skills. I can not justify the cost of the BCs over the same size shells for half the cost. But if you do try them, good luck! The ones I have shot killed birds dead.
