minioutdooradventures
Does anybody know if these deer will be moving now that the coldfront went away in the east
Tominator
Quite possible that they will start yarding up now that a lot of their food is buried.
msman825
I know all the shooter bucks Migrated from where i hunted them this year , for sure
Tominator
Yep, happens in my immediate area too. Near as I can tell it's for cover, as our area is very flat. It's not because of food, there's tons of waste grain and a few alfalfa fields nearby, but every year right around gun season, they vacate and you don't see them too much until late spring. I wouldn't really call it a migration though.
Ravin R10 man
Deer will yard up when faced with deep snow. They will seek out of the wind areas..evergreen thickets..or a food source they can access will also draw them in..last year here it was my corn...after i finished combining in mid Jan. we counted 200 deer on the field!! woolybear
Still got plenty of deer randomly wandering the woods I hunt. Not much for yarding going on just yet. Pretty common to see this still around here, but as soon as our snow piles up, it takes on a whole different look. Like a "mass migration" right out of town and the propperty only sees traffic from a few resident stragglers that stay behind to winter. I followed this evacuation trail last winter for close to 8 miles and never found the end of it.
huntnfish
Seems like the snow in NC stopped deer from moving for a couple of days. They were moving really good the evening before the storm hit.
