snapper
Well his last surgery was Mon and all went well. The dr. had to go in and put in a shunt (sp)...for those like me and didn't know what a shunt was...its an internal drain from his brain to the lining of his stomach. Basically his brain can't asorb all the fluids and has to be drained somehow. The fluid is clear with no blood...so thats good. The dr. said 1 out 3 who has this type of brain surgery needs the shunt....so its not uncommon. Depending on how he does in the next 24-36 hours...he should be getting transported to our local hospital for rehab. Don't know how long he'll be in there...but we are still heading in the right direction! Thanks again for all the prayers...they are very appreciated. BTW, I go in on Thurs. morning for an MRA scan of my neck and brain. My brothers neo-surgon actually recommended me to have the scan. They say there is not genentic link from parent to child...but there are links to siblings. I already know they won't find a brain...but hoping they don't find an anuresyum! I hope to keep hearing improving news.

I wasn't sure what kinda shape he was in as far as walking and stuff. Did he suffer any memory loss?

Tominator
Good deal Gregg. And don't worry about your MRI. There are parts of it that sound exactly like a .50 cal going off on full auto.
snapper
Did he suffer any memory loss? There is some short term memory loss...if you were to visit today...he wouldn't remember you were there the next day. Drs. say that will (should) come back...he'll prob. have some speech therapy as well...his words are clear, but sometimes he really has to think what to say or what he says don't make sense. BTW--thanks for spoiling my reply with the last line of your post!! I figured someone was going to say it....so it might as well be me...lol There are parts of it that sound exactly like a .50 cal going off on full auto. That will be cool...although its not the scan itself that bothers me a little.

Yup I've been there....good news bud, it gets better! Dad still has small issues with saying correct words and names...but overall he does fine. He also still has issues with STM loss but his accident was pretty severe also....hopefully your brothers is on a lesser degree. I don't know the guy, but he's been on my mind alot. I hope he continues to improve!

Tominator
That will be cool...although its not the scan itself that bothers me a little. I know. just trying to lighten you up a little. Better they find something early than to have a surprise later. We'll pray for the best.
