Dawg
My 3 year old 42" flat screen decided it didn't want to work right no more. The picture still comes on but it flashes like a strobe light. Guess this means I get to get a bigger one now!
GWSmith
Working a similar justification angle for a new HD set myself...LOL The type on the forums can barely be read from across the livingroom and if that was not bad enough it's fuzzy. I love the new Wii but it has brought forth into the light the woefull inadequacy's of an obviously inferior appliance:D
The_Kat
What brand is it? My Vizio is coming up on 3 years, my Samsung is 2....I sure hope they don't decide to die soon. You'll get to buy one of them new slim line ones....

Dawg
Yep. Just started it out of the blue. I looked on Vizio's website and evidently this is a common occurrence because they have a section under the FAQ's about it. I tried all the tips they gave to try and fix it but none of them worked. The_Kat
They supposedly have the #1 customer service satisfaction rating out of all the major brands. I bet they might be willing to replace it....3 years just doesn't seem like a very good lifetime for a TV. It's worth a shot. The worst they can do is say "sorry charlie". Jeramie
I bought a 37" tv for at bedroom at black friday 2009. It quit turning on about 10 months later. The MFG want to replace the one part but wont pay for labor. The labor is around $225.00. I paid $225.00 for the TV. Its been a fight. As for our primary, we bought a 48" Toshiba HD ready projection many years ago. It was top of the line at the time. I would love to have a new HD flatscreen but that thing is still working like a charm.... Until it kicks the bucket momma wont let me spend the money. wtnhunt
That stinks Corey. Our 42 inch is a philips, been pretty happy with it for the most part, got it from Sams club a couple years ago. Would not hesitate to go with philips again, the picture quality was better in the stores than the higher priced sony's. Prices are a good bit less now than they were 2 or 3 years ago. hammerforged
Oh Man - that does stink Corey. Like William we got a 42" Philips and have not had any problems out of it. My nephew and his wife were here for thanksgiving and she told him that the picture on our Philips was a lot better than the one on their Sony. We have a 22" Vizio in the guest room, so far no problems with it but it is only a year old. Best of luck, let us know how it turns out. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Its the bulb or the ballast ... either way its tough to find Vizio parts because from the very beginning they were just a throw away set. Unless you purchased the extended warranty im afraid you will probably be out of luck. I will say though there are some TV shops around that will have a bulb or ballast for that TV just that Vizio vertually has no parts inventory per say. That is why they are such a cheap/inexpensive set. Steve
Tominator
Had this type of discussion with my wife this morning at breakfast. Frankly, I'm getting tired of all this "technology" breaking down. Just the other day, our ice maker took a dump on us. That fridge is just over a year old. I find that almost criminal that a manufacturer can make a product that costs that much and is basically designed to be a throw away object.
