magnatecsteve
I noticed there are some good ol' traditional ML shooters back in the forums! Lets see some pics of you and your guns! Here is me and my .54 cal "smooth rifle" which is the last gun my Dad built. My best flintlock buck too. The other is me and my very first deer. I was 13, shooting a CVA 50 cal two piece stock flintlock.
PA_Spike_King
Here is my first and only yote that I have killed BUT what makes this special is it was done with my Lyman Deerstalker. Now here is the doe I killed in flintlock season in 08. This is the doe I killed last flintlock season and killed her on the last day (Jan 9th 2010) in the last few min of light but got the job done. I have killed many deer with a flintlock but didn't have pics of a lot of them and didn't have a digital camera back then. LOL
magnatecsteve
Great Pics Eric, thanks for sharing some pics. Those look like some healthy does too. A flintlock kill is always special to me. I have been so wrapped up in archery for a while that I haven't made it a point to save a tag back for the flinters, but have the past few years. Might get the .54/28 ga out to do some rabbit hunting soon. Thanks again.
PA_Spike_King
Yep, most of the does I chose to shoot have to fit my huntin criteria or I let them walk. For a few years I would fill my tags also but the last few years I saved a tag or two just for this special season.
FrontierGander
just got this great plains 54 in yesterday. Good shootin sidelock!
magnatecsteve
I love the Lyman Great Plains rifle, a very dependable gun and about as close to the original Hawken style you can get from a production gun. I love the browned hardware and the pewter nose cap. I like the .54 cal for deer too. Have fun with the new toy.
