gzilla45
I'm going boar hunting the latter half of this week down in Oklahoma and I think I'm going to use my SKS this year instead of the .270. Which would be a better bullet choice, the 122 gr hollow point or the 158 gr soft point? I'll add that I will probably be taking head shots as I'm meat hunting and won't need to mount it. I'm thinking both should work fine but thought I'd pose the question anyway.
Texan_Til_I_Die
If you're going to ear hole them, either one would be fine. Which shoots better in your SKS? (yeah, I know, SKS and pin point accuracy don't exactly go together)
gzilla45
I was actually blessed with a great shooting SKS. Ok....decent shooting but it is better than every other one I've seen. I've "sporterized' it some and for an open-sighted cheap rifle, it does pretty well. Since either should be fine, I'll probably shoot the soft-points as that is what I mostly shoot through it. Now that I think about it i'll bring my .270 as well. Just in case I feel like reaching out and saying hi on one from afar.
doubleA
I would be taking something with a decent scope on it. More times than not, hogs are on the move during very early morning hours and in the evenings right at dark. A scoped rifle will usually allow better shot placement in low light conditions. That's my $.02.
