NS whitetail
We where out lobster fishing this morning and we got a lot more wind than the forecast was calling for. At around 10:30 am we decided to give it up and head for land. We had to steam head to the wind and straight into the huge choppy seas to get home. My brother was at the helm, I was standing in the wheelhouse beside him, we went up on a huge sea and as we were coming down off of it, another HUGE one was right behind it and slammed us full force. When we looked back at the aft deck it could not be seen, the sea fully covered us. Thankfully these marine windows are designed not to bust out, but as you can see it shattered it pretty good. The force of being hit by one of these rogue waves is unreal. looking out the window that I was standing behind

buckee
I've seen those rogue waves in rough seas too Lewis and they are bad news. Busted one of our poles one time and we had to hobble into port. Darn boat went right under water and was scary as heck. I'm just glad we were both in the wheelhouse and not on deck, and had everything locked down. Praise God you're OK buddy.

NS whitetail
wow, hats off the the guy who made those windows.... You may have been asked this before but is lobster fishing anything like the king crab season you see on deadliest catch? It is kinda the same in ways, they put in some much harsher weather but our boats are less than 1/2 the size of theirs.
Tominator
When you're 21, rogue waves are simply awesome. I think I always found them awesome because of their random nature, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, WHAM! We actually picked one up on radar once, it was awesome. As far as the eye could see, a 10 foot wall of water coming at us! We had enough time to quarter into it, but it still put a pretty good bend in the clinometer. Glad you're ok buddy. Those things hit at like 12,000 lbs/sq inch I want to say.
