92xj
What is your preferred trigger weight for a hunting rifle? I just went from a factory (5lbs) on my A-bolt to a 2lb Timey trigger spring. I have yet to shoot it, but it feels awesome now. I also have a 3lb that I might bump up to but for right now this 2 is money.
PA_Spike_King
I have never really figured out what my guns are but I can say that all of my hunting and bench rest guns are at or lower than 2 lbs.
Strut10
For a carry rifle, I like 40 oz. For a sitting or "beanfield" type rifle I like 24 oz.

Really? Are they factory triggers?
PA_Spike_King
My Win 243 is BUT I have reworked it to my liking. Also the rest of my guns have adjustable triggers.
Texan_Til_I_Die
For hunting scenarios I like one that's not lighter that 2.2 lbs and not heavier than 3 lbs.
doubleA
For hunting puposes a 3lb will do, as long as there is no creep and breaks cleanly. A really good 3lb trigger will have a better feel to it than a mushy 2lber.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
I prefer a lighter trigger to a heavier one. I hate mushy triggers and hate creepy or too much overtravel. I have one rifle that is about 3 lbs but just takes pressure to shoot that is a sweet trigger.
dbHunterNY
My deer rifle is an A-bolt that's set as low as it can go (3lbs. I think) it's pretty nice so it's fine at 3lbs. My Savage varmint rifle with accu-trigger is set to close to 2lbs or a little less it's pretty light, but I like it. Some where between there would be good. bowana
All .of my rifles have aftermarket triggers...Rifle Basix....Timney.....and Jewell. Jewell's are well......jewells. Best of the Best.....but pricey. These days I use a lot of Rifle Basix set at 2.5 lbs (yep that would be around 40 oz). I'm not sayin factory triggers are trash.....Savage and Remington both have good triggers. But, trigger control is right up there with a good barrel, good bedding job and good optics/mounts. I always strive for the best in all variables.......and I'm always searching for the ultimate in accuracy.....no matter if its a big bore or coyote rifle! Watch the "Long Range Hunter" on the Outdoor Channel and see what they say about triggers. Great Post!!
