wtnhunt
Last part with this poll, when have you killed the highest percentage of your best bucks?
WHISKEYSWAMP
My 2 largest bucks, I have on the wall, were killed with a bow after 4pm on Nov. 1st and Nov. 6th.
wtnhunt
I tried editing the poll to make this one multiple choice, but it would not let me. Kind of a split here, have killed probably equally as many mature deer from first light to 8 am as I have late in the afternoons. Taxidermist I am using this year said the best bucks he has gotten in over the years were killed mid day and late afternoon. Thought with things being slow and most folks seasons over or almost over might be an interesting topic for conversation.
92xj
My biggest buck was killed at 2:45 in the afternoon. I crawled 300 yards to within 30 yards of him. When I shot I realized I crawled into the middle of a circle of 20+ does and this guy was standing in the middle of them. It was the most insane hunting experience I have seen or been a part of. It was also killed 5 minutes from downtown Charlotte on a farm surrounded by 3 neighborhoods, an elementary school and a park. One day I might post the entire story. Good times. need2hunt
I've shot 6 bucks P&Y or over this is roughly the timeframs they were shot. Shot 1 buck on Oct 21, 1 on Jan 1 and the rest were killed between the weekend 2 weeks before thanksgiving to one week after thanksgiving (which is basically the same time period I've shot all my smaller bucks too but most of my young bucks were shot in the morning) 8 am, 11am, 20 mins before dark, 1 hour before dark, 10 mins before dark, 2 hours before dark
ruttinbuc
Most of my bucks were killed in the evening. The reason being that it was when I had the time to hunt. I shot a few in the first hour of daylight and a few midday.
Dawg
My best whitetail was killed around 9ish am on a Saturday. The mule deer I killed last year was around 5:45ish pm on a Saturday. Those are the only two bucks I have mounted.
Tominator
Don't know if you're going to find a correlation of when big bucks are killed as opposed to when someone has the time to kill a big buck. I don't know if I've ever killed a buck in the morning to be honest, I'd have to sit down and think about it. I can tell you that 3 of my biggest have been on the weekend, or when I was on Christmas break. I know my 4th biggest was one afternoon after school. My 2 biggest were clearly killed outside of the rut. One on December 27th, the other one on October 12th.
Mach1
Of the four bucks I've shot, 2 were before 7:30 am, 1 was at midday, and 1 was just before sundown. My biggest was one of the two shot before 7:30.
bfletch7441
Early morning and late afternoon is almost a waste of time at our place. Middle of the day is when things get moving. Ben
rhine16
I have two that I call "good" bucks. Both killed chasing does, one at 9 and one at
hoosierhunter
3 of my 4 shoulder mounts have came from 8:04 to 9:50 AM. The other one came in the last 10 minutes of shooting light.
fly
I've harvested 4 bucks over 130 inches at 3.5 years of age or older. First: Mid-October 30 minutes before dark. Second: Mid-January last 5 minutes of legal shooting time. Third: Mid-November about an hour after first light. Fourth: Mid-December at 2pm. RangerClay
Funny thing about the hill I hunt on. The deer don't start moving until 8am. I might see one or two at sunrise but when my watch says 8am its go-time!

Crew999
Depends on the time of year, but during the rut (mid November up here), we have killed most of our big bucks in the early afternoon. When the rut is not on, first and last light are the best
