Ohiobucks
Agree with passing up the millions is stupid, but I don't think any degree, even Business Ed. is worthless. God forbid he gets injured next year, you could kiss lifetime financial security aloha. He will have an insurance policy in place next year, so if he gets hurt before going to the NFL, he will still be OK.

What does a policy like that cost, and who picks up that tab? What will that policy be worth? Not being argumentative, just curious.

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
What does a policy like that cost, and who picks up that tab? What will that policy be worth? Looked up the name of it and this is what I found: "NCAA's Exceptional Student-Athlete Disability Insurance program" http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/ncaa/NCAA/About+The+NCAA/Budget+and+Finances/Insurance/sainsuranceprog The NCAA also sponsors a disability insurance program for exceptional student-athletes at NCAA institutions in the sports of football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and men's ice hockey. The program enables qualifying student-athletes, as approved by the program administrator, to purchase disability insurance contracts with preapproved financing, if necessary. This program will provide the student-athlete with the opportunity to protect against future loss of earnings as a professional athlete, due to a disabling injury or sickness that may occur during the collegiate career. I'm guessing since it says the NCAA sponsors it, then they pick up the tab. Edited January 7, 2011 by Michiganbowhunter_SQ2

Makes sense, but, I don't know....seems this is a bit of a double standard...a guy sells a game jersey, that, presumably is his, and gets in trouble, but the NCAA will pick up the tab on a multimillion dollar insurance policy to protect his talents, or the NCAA's interests? Guess that's the topic of another thread. Either that or DB, errr, Eric will come in and enlighten us/me.
MCH
Wow....now Harbaugh is gone to the NFL. He's accepted the head coaching job for the 49ers. Wonder if Luck is wishing he would've left?
Tominator
Wonder if Luck is wishing he would've left? You really think he didn't know his coach was leaving? Harbaugh's not that big of a DB, is he?
MCH
You really think he didn't know his coach was leaving? Harbaugh's not that big of a DB, is he? I think Luck was hoping that Harbaugh would stay. Probably thought by coming back he could make him stay. Harbaugh recruited him, tutored him and made him a winner. Add to that I've read where next year there could be a cap on draft pick money....why wouldn't a guy declare? I'd come back if I thought my team had a shot at a BCS title....but losing the coach that resurrected the program? Doubt my chances would be good enough to make me stay. Just think about how many #2 jerseys OSU sells right out of their bookstore. But, that said, rules are rules and these dbags knew they were breaking them. If they could just wait a few years, their multi-million dollar NFL contracts will buy a lot of tats.

More than likely why my son fell asleep in the blind the other day. He needed that deer to walk out, 5 minutes after we sat down..
