kidd
The bug house mentioned how he stacked his wood pile and get me thinking it would be fun to see what others woodstoves/fireplaces look like....we just got ours re-done. We used to have a fireplace but switched to the wood stove awhile back....say 5 years ago....I promised my wife i would redo the stone work so I replaced the white Indiana limestone with fieldstone...then i cut and canted the mantle (solid white oak).....put slate down as our hearth....more air flow and keeps us warm... kidd
NS whitetail
nothing fancy here, just a plain old Newmac in the basement, but it does a great job.

This is the wood stove I have at my hunting camp/country house/trailer. At home I heat with gas and forced hot air. Man, I bet that gets right up to "Sauna temp" really quickly! I'm curious, what class is the can hanging on the wall? Here's ours after we got done painting the house back when we bought it in July... Is that an Ashley? Looks just like mine, but in much better shape. Mine's in the basement also, my house is about 1100 Sq Ft and buttoned up fairly well, I heat the entire house with the one stove in the basement, and supplement with oil forced air. I'm just on the cusp of zones 4/5 and I usually go through about 5 cords and 75 gallons give or take. Adjam5
. Man, I bet that gets right up to "Sauna temp" really quickly! I'm curious, what class is the can hanging on the wall? I still have the crank out type windows in that 1973 trailer, so there are lots of air leaks. I need the constant source of heat to keep the place warm. Burn mostly cherry, maple and ash. The can on the wall. I gather you are speaking of the extinguisher...correct? I believe it is good for electrical, gasoline and wood fires. Shaun_300
Not the best pic, but here's the one in our hunt camp, keeps it nice and toasty! We got rid of the one here in the house when the basement got renovated in the summer. Didn't use it enough and when we did, the basement would be 80+ degrees and you couldn't stand to sit down there. Replaced it with a wall mounted heater.
