Newarcher
Nineteen shot, five dead (including a Federal Judge and a 9 year old child) and nine are in critical condition. Rep. Giffords was shot in the temple and it exited her forehead. She's responding to commands and the Dr's are expecting her to survived but are unsure of her brain damage. The perp a 22 year old white moron is in custody and was ranting on his myspace page about the currency and gold standard and said today would be his last day alive. Unfortunately, he is still alive. I don't care which side you are on, this isn't the way to deal with political discourse. You also don't shoot CHILDREN for any reason, even in WAR. Prayers sent for the Rep and her family. PotashRLS
This is a terrible, unspeakable act taken out on someone taking her elected position seriously. She clearly votes a variety of ways on a variety of issues without partisanship. Gifford's record, while I don't agree with her on every issue, is that of diligence and respect. She clearly cared about what her constituants thought. She is not only a victim of senseless violence, but a victim of what is wrong with our government. She paid for the crap that goes on in Washington on a daily basis. God Bless her and all those involved. All this does is fuel the anti-gun left and blacken the eye of law abiding gun owners everywhere. A couple of people with a ccw in that crowd could possibly saved some life that morning. What a sad day for our entire country.
m gardner
She was a Blue Dog Democrat and pretty much everyone liked her because she isn't a liar and is respectful of others even though she's liberal. The judge was appointed by Bush. Loughner was a mentally ill monster for sure. Living here I've seen a deteriorating regard for human life. The 43,000 that have been slaughtered in Mexico over the last 4 years has helped create a funky atmosphere here in Az.. Many people living here (legally and otherwise) have come from that hellhole and the culture has taken it's toll on us. The government not securing the border and creating a safe environment has further disenfranchised us. The real tragedy is that when a private citizen like rancher Richard Krentz is murdered no one really cared. Some of the aristocracy is killed and people go nuts. Creating a safe environment for the citizens here would go a long way towards ending any further craziness. It's like living in a haunted house and people are beginning to go nuts. It is a pity that he wasn't shot dead at the scene. Now we'll need to go through the dog and pony show of that too.

ruttinbuc
This kid seemed to be throwing red flags all over the place. Once again no one steps in to stop the threat. I can't figure out how those so young develop such an axe to grind. We live in perilous times. What penalty would stop the nonsense?
