92xj
I didnt hunt it, kill or and try to kill it. Its a news flash, people read the news while sitting on the lounge chair. read the story and comment on it if you like.

buckee
Looks more like a wolf than a yote, but I'll guess they'll know that after the DNA tests. And I agree Ben, it belongs in the lounge or the other room, since it's a news article.
92xj
I think they already got the DNA results and it showed it was/is a yote. I agree that it looks more like a wolf, but then when you look at the second picture of it, the legs show coyote to me. Whatever it is, its huge and cool! BowtechTurkeyHunter
Very large yote for sure ... Id be walking up on that thing very slowly .... I bet he has had a few deer for dinner from the size of things. Steve
Straight Shooter
Looks like a female wolf to me, but if the DNA test show its a yote then its a yote. I've never seen a yote with a white and gray muzzle and the size of the feet on that thing give me the impression as well of a wolf. I hope for the hunters sake it is a yote because of wolves being protected, it'll be very interesting to find out the conclusion of this story. redkneck
That thing is a giant! But... he's uglier than he is big. Sure looks like the neighbor's husky to me.
wtnhunt
Resource Scientist Jeff Beringer said the MDC staff took measurements and collected tissue and hair samples for DNA analysis. The test showed the animal was a coyote. According to Beringer, the coyote was a male approximately 3 years old. It had no tattoos, microchip or evidence of ear tags that would indicate it might have escaped or been released from captivity. The coyote’s size and the size and shape of its feet were similar to those of a wolf, leading to speculation it could be a coyote-wolf hybrid. Gray wolves, also known as timber wolves, once inhabited northern Missouri but were gone from the state by the late 1800s, due to hunting and habitat loss. Wolves persisted in Minnesota. From there, they dispersed into Wisconsin and Michigan, which now have wolf populations of their own. Looks like they tested it it and think it is a yote, however sounds like they are a bit unsure. Does look more like a wolf or mix to me.
Ravin R10 man
I bet it is a crossbreed..and our DNR used to tell us this too..... Beringer said the MDC has never stocked wolves and has no plans to restore them to Missouri......RIGHT!...

Your DNR will tell you something doesn't exist, even if it came up and bit you in the butt!!!
Dawg
I'll 2nd this. Your DNR will tell you something doesn't exist, even if it came up and bit you in the butt!!! Yep. GW's here have said that mountain lions aren't in this area (SE Texas). My wife has seen one cross the highway in front of our house. A lady had one in her yard a couple years ago and my cousin has tracks this year at his hunting lease. So yea, the wildlife department will blow smoke. Back to the topic, that is a big yote. Wish I could have killed that sucker. BTW- This thread got moved.
92xj
BTW- This thread got moved. Pretty lame to move it after two other mods have read and posted in the thread and did not feel like it needed to be moved. To me it has nothing to do with hunting, its a news article abouth the wildlife.
