Re: Christmas Traditions As for me, my mother, and my sister, we usually wake up on Christmas day around 7am and open stockings and then gifts. We usually have a few hours of downtime to check out our gifts and then we used to head over to my grandfather's house and wait for everyone to get there then open gifts and then eat. But since Gramps isn't with us this year, it'll prolly be spent over at my Aunt's house.

Re: This is just unbelievable, mom killed, fetus taken That really sucks. A mother won't get to enjoy her newborn daughter and now a daughter won't get to grow up with help from her mom. And the worst of it is it had to happen around Christmas. There are defintely some sick twisted people out there who only care about themselves and no one else. No one deserves to be killed like that. Thank God the baby is fine tho. My prayers are with the family.

Re: Bigfoot. I remember on Thanksgiving day back in 2001, I was walking to my stand at 6am and it was completely dark. So I was walking in a cornfield and to the right of me there was some trees and some tall grass. Anyways I'm walking and I hear this like snarling sound of animal tearing apart a rabbit or a small rodent. It sounded fairly close. So I stop and shine my flashlight in the direction I heard it and didn't see anything. I stood there for 5 mins till I didn't hear anything else and walked off to my spot. But every 2 mins I was looking all around me just to make sure nothing was coming up from behind me lol. And the worst thing is it was foggy so you could only see 10 yards in front of you. That was the only time I've ever been scared in the woods lol

Re: Read on stand? [ QUOTE ] Well, I beg to differ with you two..... I read on stand during the less productive times in the stand. I am reading "For Big Bucks Only" by the North American Hunting Club right now. I read alittle, look alittle read a little and so on until around 30 minutes before the deer should move. I haven't missed a deer coming by to my knowledge yet. It passes the time easier for me. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, I take a hunting magazine along and read it if nothing picks up. I either read a page or a paragraph and look around to see if I can spot anything out of the ordinary and then usually I resume reading. I agree with Kyle. It defintely passes up time.

I agree. I've defintely seen a lot more deer since I bought it in 2001. I guess the tricky part for me is them getting up close and getting a shot at them! lol

Going to make hunting home video series this year.

Re: Going to make hunting home video series this year. Hey Kyle, I dunno if your video camera can hook up to the computer somehow, but they also have cheap software that allows you to edit and add music to segments and stuff to your videos to give it a professional look to it. It'd be awesome to see what you guys come up with. -

A Christian Hunter's Devotions and Studies

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Hey guys, I'm finally back on after a 2 month absence getting my computer fixed! Things have been kinda here and there. So I'll update: Most of you guys know my grandfather was battling pancreatic cancer and was told that he wouldn't live long. Well guys my Grandfather accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on July 7th!!! My mom led her dad in prayer and accepted Jesus as his savior even told his brother and his brother's pastor that he gotten saved. But sadly, 13 days later my grandfather lost his battle with cancer. It was kinda hard on us, but me and my mom knew we'd see Grandpa again. He's no longer in any pain and is reunited with his mother. But best of all, he's face to face with Jesus. But I'm defintely grateful that I had a grandfather like him. He was the one that introduced me to hunting and took me to the hunter education courses so I could go hunting. But I'll always treasure the moments I got to spend with him hunting. I wish I could've gotten a deer with him, but I'm sure I'll have a bunch of hunting stories to tell him about in heaven. But anyways guys just thought I'd give you an update and say I'm back once again! A verse that has really been on my heart the past 2 weeks is Proverbs 16:3 "Commit your works to the Lord And your plans will be established." -J -
A Christian Hunter's Devotions and Studies

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Hey everyone. I've been away for quite a while due to a computer that doesn't want to run right and my grandfather's condition. But anyways here's an update: They've taken my grandfather off of chemotherapy. They say it's not shrinking the cancer at all, all it's doing is just making him weak. They've given him 4 weeks to live. Lately a lot of people have been trying to witness to him. One of his old buddies tried but Grandpa didn't budge at all. My mom has tried, but he hasn't really said anything to her about it. My mom's cousin came over and allowed her to pray for him and help him. But my mom keeps nudging me that I should witness to him. I dunno, I'm kinda nervous about doing it and yet afraid. I could do it to anyone else, but my grandfather I just feel kinda afraid to tell him about Jesus. He's seemed to be real bitter against the church and is one of the those guys from the army who are full of pride and think they don't need Jesus, so I'd be kinda afraid that he'd get mad about it. But yet the other day I came across Ezekiel 3:18 where God says "When I say to the wicked man, 'you shall surely die' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin and I will hold you accountable for his blood." It really froze me when I read that. I want to witness to him, but then I think 'if they weren't successful in getting him to accept Jesus, what makes me think I can?' But I know that if he doesn't except Jesus as his Lord, I'll be really hurt. So if you guys can, please pray that the Holy Spirit will give me the words to say and give me boldness to do it. Thanks. -J -
A Christian Hunter's Devotions and Studies

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Hey guys and gals. I ask for your prayers. A few days ago my grandfather found out that he has cancer in his pancreas and they told him there's nothing they can really do for it. They said he has 6 or 7 months to live, he'd be lucky to live till Christmas. My grandfather is not saved. So we're believing for him to get healed or get saved or both! He asked to borrow one of my mom's Christian magazines yesterday that this months edition had war stories from Christian accounts and such, and included in the magazine is a prayer to invite Jesus into the person read's life. I hope he really done that. Everyone I just ask that you keep my grandfather in prayer. I'm by no means ready for my grandfather to die. He just can't die. He and my dad are the ones who helped peak my interest in hunting. But with all of our prayers, our prayers will be powerful and effective. Jesus said in the Bible that if two or more are gathered in His name, He's there in the midst of us. So please pray. Thank you guys. -J -
A Christian Hunter's Devotions and Studies
jaret replied to TreeWalker's topic in The Spiritual Camp
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Ok I guess I'll share my testimony. It's long I forewarn you lol... I wasn't raised in a Christian home or anything. I always believed in God but that was it. My mom's cousin would babysit me and my sister during the winter, spring, and summer breaks and would take us to school when there was school. Her husband and children all went to church and would read us the Bible during breakfast which would raise my curiousity but that was pretty much it. Well, I think in 1995 or so, my mom got fired from her job and found a new job and most of her co-workers were Christian women who were going to a nearby church. So they asked my mom if she'd like to go and so she did and she got saved and started going to this church. I looked at it as time interfering with playing outside or playing baseball or backyard football with some of the neighborhood kids. I'll be honest, at that age, I did not like it at all lol. When they'd have music on, I'd just stand there not clapping or singing or anything. I was just thinking, "let's get the pastor up on stage to preach so we can get this show over with!" I figured this would only be a phase my mother was going thru, but it wasn't we kept going! My mom got me and my sister to go into the youth group. It just seemed like a daycare with kids my age and people were just trying to control kids. So somehow I got my mom to get us out of the youth group and back into the main sanctuary. So thruout junior high school, my mom was just trying to get me to get involved with the church but for me at the time it just wasn't my thing. I loved sports, so that was like the thing that consumed my time, that and video games lol. But It was like around my freshmen year of high school. I was on the football team trying to be a 'somebody'. I wanted to be Mr. Popular, but thank the Lord I didn't do any of the things the rest of the guys on the football team were doing. But it was around Halloween and this church was having almost like a haunted house but it was supposed to be like walking thru Sheoul, the greek word for the opposite of heaven. But I was like 16 and I thought that if someone killed you or you died in a car crash, you automatically went to heaven. I know, thinking back on the way I thought of, I thought pretty dumb. But Paul says in the Bible that 'when he was a child, he thought as a child' lol. But what I realized at the end of this Christian haunted house was that anyone who is killed by someone or killed in a car wreck don't go to heaven unless they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If they haven't, they go to Sheoul. So at the end of the haunted house. They asked "if you were to die tonite, where would you go?" And they had three doors which you could go into 1) Heaven 2) Sheoul 3) A question mark for those who didn't know. Well me thinking I was so sure, went to the one that had Heaven written acrossed it. But once everyone in your group has choose their door, they had you go into a tent where the pastor would began talking and telling us about Jesus and why He came and died on the cross. Then he asked us again if we were sure about our paths we choose, and that if we weren't to say the sinner's prayer after him. So I said it, and after that I just felt like I was just alive a lot more. I don't exactly remember the date it happened but it was around October of 98 and I was 16. And I've been living for Him since!
