Thanks everyone. She is pretty remarkable. Can't wait, she is coming home this week-end. She hasn't been home in quite some time with her busy life.

Hey guys and gals, haven't been around much on here lately, work has been hectic and a few health issues have really put a damper on things. Well anyway. some of you know that my youngest daughter has been playing collegiate (Division III) basketball for the past four years. Well it came to an end on Sunday. It is really kinda bitter - sweet. Here is the story. Friday night we played a team from Boston in the first round of the NCAA's. We started strong, up by 18 at one point but let it slip away. 7 minutes left in the first half she takes an elbow to the face the opens up the blood flow from the nose. She goes out, trainer works on her then packs it with some tissues and back in the game she goes. 4 minutes left in the half, she goes up for a rebound and comes down a someones foot and turns her ankle. Out again and the other team cuts our lead to 10 at the half. My daughter is in extreme pain, she is even crying on the bench, and she never cries from pain. She is pretty tough. We figure she is done for the game. We talk to her at half and she says it really hurts. I don't expect her to play anymore. The team is pressing us and with out my daughter in there we can't handle it. They score the first 5 points. I see my daughter go to the trainer and tell her to tape her back up. The trainer makes her do a buch of drills to see if she is ok. I can see my daughter is in pain but she is hiding it from the trainer. She gets taped up and goes and sits next to the coach. The other team cuts the lead to 4 and coach turns to her and says, are you ready and she says you betcha. She enters the game, grabs a rebound, dribbles the length of the court and dishes to our post player and puts us up 6. Next play, she picks off a pass gets fouled and hits two free throws, up 8. She litterly just out ran everybody on the press. She made 10 foul shots in the second hald to help us get our first ever NCAA win in school history. I had so many parents come up to be and tell me what a tough kid she is and that we would have never won that game if it wasn't for her. Sure makes a Dad proud. Next night we are schedule to play the #20 ranked team in the country but ice storm knocks out power and it gets post-poned until Sunday. Sunday at noon we play and end up loosing by 5. The girls played hard and gave it there all but that other team had an answer for every run we made. My daughter finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist. Four of our starters fouled out of the game as it seemed the refs had it in for us a little. Again after the game, we are walking off the court and a parent from the other team comes up and says, "Dad you should be real proud of that little girl, everytime she steps on the floor she plays with her heart, she gives it everything shes got". I told him you don't even know how proud I am of this little girl. These are the stats she had for the season this year. 366 points 12.6 average 127 rebounds 4.4 average 88 assist 3.0 average 59 steals 2.0 average ( led team) .766 Free throw % .340 3 point FG % SUNYAC regular season champions SUNYAC tournament Champions 4th trip to NCAA tournament First ever school win in the NCAA tournament Most wins in a season 25 Fewest losses in a season 5 She also moved into the top 10 for points all-time at her school. It is sad that it is over, but she ended her career in a great way. These four years have really gone by quick. I will miss it but I could not be prouder of her. She graduates in May and she has alrady been accepted into a Physical Therepy program at one school and is waiting to hear from her first choice on another school. She will need to go three more years. Not only does this girl have game, she also is so driven and I know she will be successful in what ever she does.

I will be there on the 9th.

Mike so sorry to hear of this. Prayers sent for you and your family.

Great posts Dale. Let me tell you all about Dale (SoutherntierArcher). We met through a mutual friend and the first time we were together we hit it off. It was like we had known each other for years. He is a super guy and I am glad to call him my friend. When the chance came to hunt out at Dale's, I jumped at the chance. I know his work ethic and the plan that he has in place. I never dreamed that I would be fortunate enough to harvest such a great buck. But he put me in a great spot and the plan, his plan, came together. He was as excited himself as I was when I shot this buck. We will be going to Harrisburg for the second year in a row in February and I can't wait to hang out with him and share some stories and have some good times. He is a first class hunter and more importantly a first class person.

This is the hunt I won from Dream Season, Catch-A-Dream raffle. got back into town a day early, bumped up the flight and it was probably a good thing as I would probably be stuck in some airport today. Here is the story ...... Left Albany airport at 7:00 am Wednesday morning on November 28th. Great flight, switched planes in Chicago, no delays, everything went as schedule. Here are a couple pics from the air. Arrived in St. Louis at 11:05 and picked up luggage. There was Joe waiting for me and the first thing he did after our introduction was to give me a Drury hat as the mathews hat I was wearing wouldn't cut it, since they are sponsored by PSE now. He also told me he was going to "wear me out" with the camera as he would be filming me all the time. And he did !!!! It really wasn't that bad. After a two hour drive we made it to his place. Let me tell you, this place is awesome. Way back, (miles) on a dead end road in the middle of no where. Here is the camp or his house I should say. Back deck ... Inside with a couple bucks he shot. The winter wheat fields that would would be hunting quite a bit. There is a blind that we hunted in this pic where we tried desperately to get a doe within range. Thursday November 29th, first day of the 4 day hunt. In the am we went to a nice wooded area and it was about 25 degrees. We saw about 7 deer, 3 bucks but nothing we were interested in shooting. Headed out for lunch and went back out about 2 pm. Going into the stand he calls the pond set, (this is a finger off a large patch of woods with a pond in the middle) we jumped 5 doe and two decent bucks off the field. Continued on and busted about a dozen more deer on the other side of the pond. Joe climbed the tree, which is about 30 feet in the air. I had my gun on the pull rope and Joe motioned to me that a shooter was coming, get my gun. I grabbed my gun and put the primer on and here he comes. He looked real wide and high. He came right into the pond and he turned slightly quartering away to me and I touched off the shot. Meanwhile Joe is 30 feet up in the tree filming the whole thing. I never got nervous until after. He climbed down and he said he thinks he heard him crash. We went over, after a little interview how I never made it up the tree, and looked for blood. Nothing. Now I am getting a REAL nervous. Joe say wait, "lets look at the film". He looks at it and says, "Jim, it was great shot. Here watch it" You can see the bullet ripple the deers hair as the bullet hits it. Cool !!!!! We move on and find blood. We follow the trail for 80 yds or so and there he lays. The first day of the hunt and my buck tag is gone. We leave the deer and go to the blind in hopes of getting a doe on the same day which would be an awesome story. It never happened. Later we changed our clothes and took his tractor in to get the buck. We brought it out, took some pics with some more interviews and Joe wouldn't even let me feild dress the deer. That is the way the whole hunt went, I couldn't do anything. Joe and Pam treated me like a king. Here are some pics of the buck. Joe and I both thought the deer was bigger and would score better and he may have been a little dissapointed. However, sometimes the way things happen makes the hunt. Everything happened so fast and with Joe being in the tree and me on the ground was awesome. I made a good shot and we got it all on film. I know there are bigger deer there but the hunt itself was incredible. I wouldn't trade it for the world. After all the work was done we had a great spagetti dinner that Pam made. Let me tell you, she can cook. Friday November 30th In the morning Joe had problems with his truck so he had to call the dealer to come get it. He believes he got some bad fuel. We rode into town with the tow truck guy and picked up a loaner car. We didn't hunt Friday morning. When we got back we did a bunch of interviews and then headed out to see if I could fill my doe tag. I counted about 40 deer that I could see a a few really good bucks including a nice 12 point with split brows and a busted up 10 point. There were also plenty of 2 1/2 year olds with great potential. Here is the busted up 10-point but you can't see him real well. And a bunch of deer .... We did not get a deer to come in range, but let me tell you I didn't care. That was an awesome hunt seeing all those deer and all those bucks. That night we got back to camp, showered and headed into town for a dinner at a real nice place. We sat down a just ordered our drinks and in walked Mark Drury, John O'dell and his wife Susie, Dave Reisner and his wife Amy and a few others from Hadley Creek Outfiiters. We went over and Pam and Joe intoduced me to everyone. It was awesome. We talked to Mark for quite a while and told him I shot one and he congratulated me and thanked me for supporting Cath-A-Dream. When we left they all congratulated me again and wished me luck on filling my doe tag. Saturday December 1st. This morning we sat the blind and did not see a deer. They just did not move in the mornings as well as they did in the evenings. We decided to go to a tree stand on the other farm and when we go there we walked in and saw a dead buck. A great buck. He must have been shot from the road or from a neighbor. What a great buck. Massive 9 point that would probably score 145. It made both Joe and I sick to see such a great animal go to waste. We did a little interview and went to the stand. We stayed about an hour and it started to spit freezing rain. We both agreed we better get out before it got to dangerous as the rain was freezing on the stands and on Joe's camera. Back at the house we had lunch and did a little work on Joe's 4-wheeler. We went back out about 2:30 and headed to the pond set where I shot the buck. It had stopped raining but the wind was whipping with gust up to about 40 mph. At one point Joe spotted a real good buck that he said he would shoot. The buck started getting closer so Joe gave me the camera and I gave him the thompson center omega. This is going to be so cool I thought, raffle winner trades gun for camera and films Joe Shults shooting a great Illinois whitetail. All he had to do was walk 30 more yards into an opening. But all of the sudden a doe spooked and took all the deer with her. We were both sick and never knew why they spooked. That night we saw 80 to 100 deer (and many good bucks) in the fields, no lie. It was awesome and I enjoyed that hunt as well as any others I have ever been on even though we never fired a shot. Sunday December 2nd. In the morning we went to the blind again and saw a few does, but nothing in range. Again we left the blind and sat in a tree stand for a couple hours. The deer weren't moving but a storm was. We decided we better head out and just in time. The skys let loose and it poured. I called the airport to get my flight changed and we headed out to the airport at about 11 am. Joe and Pam stopped and bought me lunch. They would not let me buy. They then took me to the airport. I snapped a pic crossing the Mississips River. And of course I needed to get a pic of me and Joe. Let me just say that this is the best hunt I have ever been on. Joe and Pam are super people. They do not get any better. The treated me like royalty and every time I tried to do something they wouldn't let me. I was spoiled rotten. I can't wait to get the tape back with the kill on it. I also have new respect for camera people. Joe worked his tail off and I see how much work goes into all of this filming. We really hit it off and I am looking forward to getting together with them again. The ATA show is in Indiana this year and I just may go. Ernie are you up for it ??? They said that they would introduce me to many of the hunting celebs and that would be awesome. I just may go. Thanks to Joe and Pam Shults for having the raffle for Catch-A-Dream and hosting me on a memorable experience that I will never forget. Also thanks to Mark and Terry Drury for being involved in such a great organization in Catch-A-Dream. It was great winning the raffle but I am more happy that I was able to help out in a small way. Many times we take for granted life and our families. But when you see what some of these families go through it puts a reality check on what life is all about and why it is so precious. I hope that in the future and can continue to help out Catch-A-Dream and what they do for these children. Pics are alos on ...... http://www.druryoutdoors.com/journal/2007journal/november.html

A buddy of mine has been bugging me to come out to the western part of NY to hunt with him for a while but I didn't think that I could swing it with all the trips I had going on this year. Well I hunted around here on the week-end of October 27th and saw one little 5-point that I passed on and Wayne my brother-n-law hunted hard for two days and saw absolutely nothing. It was pretty discouraging and decided maybe I did need a change of scenery. John, the other guy going to Ohio with me and also introduced me to the guy who lives out near Buffalo asked me if I was sure I didn't want to go. He was leaving on Halloween and if I wanted to go I had to let him know. Well Monday the 29th, work really sucked and that was the straw that broke the camels back. I asked my boss if he minded and he said nope, take off. So I left work at 10 on Wednesday and had to wait around the house for the furnice guy to come and service it. Well, turns out he said I needed to put in $1200 for parts in a old worn down boiler or spend $5000 for a new one. Great !!!!!! So much for a simple service call. Anyway, we finally get loaded up and head out about 1 PM. We arrive at our destination about 5:30. He actually lives south of Buffalo in Erie county and has some really amazing property to hunt on private land. The property I would be hunting is 150+ acres and he just started managing it for 3 1/2 year old bucks. I was told I can't shoot anything unless I am going to put it on the wall. Fine by me. Thursday morning we are up at 5 am and John heads to another farm with another friend and me and my "guide" head to his property. Now I must regress a little again. Last year when we went to the Harrisburg show all four of us bought the Millennium tree stands. These guys also bought about 40 recievers so now we can all use this stand, we just need to slip it into the reciever and hunt. Here is the web-site, http://millenniumstands.com/Page3.html They are by far one of the most comfortable tree stands I have ever sat it. Back to the hunt. We arrive at the property and he shows me the tree and off I go. I am strapped in and ready to go at about 6:40 and just waiting for daylight. We sit till 11 and I do not see a single deer all morning. He sees a small 6 point and a couple does. We head out for lunch and to decide what to do next. We were going to go to a different property but he changes his mind at the last minute and go back to the same property we hunted in the morning. He puts me in a different tree and off I go. Settled in about 3 pm. He text messages me about 5:15 pm and aske if I see anything. I tell him NOTHING. About 15 minutes later I hear something behind me and here comes a deer, a buck. I grab the bow but see he is just a little 4-point. He comes in on the downwind side and starts veering away from me. I decide to play with him alittle and grab the buck roar and hit a few soft grunts. He turns and comes right into me and at 12 yards makes a scrape. It was really funny because he was trying to reach the licking branch but couldn't. He was almost jumping on his hind legs. He then walks by me at 9 yds and heads out to the field. I am thinking that this is pretty cool. I text mu "guide" and tell him what I saw and he is glad that I saw a deer after he has been telling me how many he has out there. I watch him out in the field for a while and then loose sight of him. About 10 minutes later I here footsteps again. I turn to where I first saw the four point and here comes another buck, a nice buck. I grab the bow quick and turn around. He is moving quick but stops, I think he was smelling the spot where the 4-pointer just walked through moments earlier. He is at the last spot where I have a shot and quartering slightly away from me. I figure he is at 30 yards but turns out it was only 22. I release the arrow and whap, he drops right there. I hit him high and spined him. I quickly grab the phone and text my buddy "Holy (words I cant use on here) BBD. So now I am watching him and trying to find a spot to slip another arrow but don't have a shot. Now my phone is buzzing and I answer it and tell him what just happened. I know he thinks I just shot the four point. He would have killed me. He says shoot him again and I explain I have to get down, so he says "well get down and shoot him and I will be right over". So I get down and by now he has dragged himself into this real thick underbrush but I find one hole and finish him off. I drag him over to a clearing and sit down and relish the moment. He is definately a mature deer with 8 points, a 15 inch spread and tipped the scale at 182 lbs. He is the biggest NY deer I have ever shot (antlers) with the bow. My friend finally shows up and walks up to him and starts screaming, "that is curly cue. I have about trail cam pics of him" After lots of high fives and some hugs we head back to his house and get the deer cart, we finally get him back home, exhausted. Here are some pics ............ To top it off, Johnny who I traveled out there with, shoots a nice 7 point on a different piece of property. Here are the two of us........... The pics aren't the best. Hope you enjoy.

After dinner we headed back to camp for another little fire...... and more stories and more laughs ..... Blazin hanging out ... Before he got tired ....:P:P Then Art got tired..... Then Wayne The camp mascot was retired ...... All in all it was great week-end. The weather really dut a damper on the hunting but not for a lack of trying. It seems that it gets smaller every year but seriously, people don't know what they are missing. Everyone gets along so well and a good time is had evreytime. I hope we can get a few more there next year. We missed Pscho this year and of course Nosdog. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the pics. THE END

Saturday we hunted until about 9 am and came back and had breakfast again. Virg and Cliff had to leave early so they missed the 3-D shoot. Before they left, my brother-n-law and Bill showed up. It was about 80 degrees when we shot and it was brutal. Here are some pics from the shoot.... Dan Bill Art, I think he was cold .... Dan again Because of the heat we cut the shoot short, the last 5 each guy picked a target and where they wanted to shoot from. This is what I chose ..... The target.... The shot .... Art Dan Wayne The results ... Shortly after Dan also had to depart. It is too bad because he was the winner of the 3-D shoot knocking Wayne off from 2 year defending champ. Had he stayed he would have got dinner bought for him and a couple other surprises..... One, we all had chicken-cordon-bleu. Because they were out of it on Thursday when Dan wanted it they gave it to us at half price plus they gave us free drinks all night because they felt bad and plus because we have been coming for 4 years in a row. Too bad you missed it Dan...:P:P After dinner it was time for a small photo shoot...... My camera died so Blazin will have to post more, But we did have a guest apperance for a young lady who came in all the way from Boston for the smackdown dinner. She was hoping Dan would be there but he missed out. Thanks to Bill who decide he wanted to buy us all dinner. Still more to come ..............

The week-end was a blast a usual. The only problem was the weather. It was more like August than October. I think everyone that hunted saw deer except (Art, Bucknrut). The attendees were ..... NYbuck - Jim Ny911Bowhunter - Dan Hilltophunter - Virg CrazyCliff - Cliff BucknRut - Art Blazin 270 - Al Wayne - my brother-n-law Bill - a guy that works with me Too bad more people couldn't have made it. People that have never been really miss a good time. It was a little downer not having Wayne (Nosdog) there. He has been a great addition to the group and hopefully with a speedy recovery he will be back again next year. Thursday I left work and ran some errands and stopped and put up our new custom made sign When I pulled in, Dan was already there enjoying the rays as the temps were probably in the mid 70's. I than hung another welcoming sign on the camp... Dan and I walked down to check the trail camera and jumped a deer in the food plot about 3:30. Shortly after he got ready and I took him to the spot I wanted him to hunt. I waited around and around 6 pm Virg and Cliff showed up. They quickly got ready and I took them to there spots for a quick evening hunt. Later that night we went to the Lodge for a quick dinner. After that it was back to camp for a couple pops and some stories. Friday morning we were up at 5:30 am and after coffee we were out the door. Here are a few pics from the spot I hunted a few times ..... And of course me.... We were back to camp around 9 and Dan cooked us a nice breakfast as he did on Saturday morning as well ... After breakfast we took down a stand and I went and showed the boys another spot that I had prepared last week. e then came back to camp and Virg and Dan went and sat in the double bull for a few hours, from 11:30 to 2:30. The trail cam showed some activity during that time. Cliff and I ran to town to pick up sme stuff that I forgot. That evening we all hunted and when everyone got back blazin showed up with some shiskabobs and I cooked some venison steaks for sandwiches. Dan built a nice little fire .... We hung out and shared more stories and had some good laughs... ] Guess who .... At about 8:30 Art showed up and we hung by the fire for a while before bed. More to come ...........

We have the smackdown this week-end and it is going to be incredibly warm. -
At this point in my life I could handle it and would love it. My youngest graduates from college this year so they are all pretty much grown and can handle being on their own. I can understand how it would be hard with someone with small children. My wife .............. she would probably love it if she only got to see me two days a week.

Happy Birthday Ken. Enjoy your day.
