  1. Caught the little ones in a trap Sunday morning, then that afternoon I went and sat in my sisters stand and got a sow
  2. Been fun this season, good luck to all in the upcoming seasons
  3. Thats for sure, one of my cousins also has an AR and he just started reloading so he is bringing some of his reloads this weekend to see if they will group and work right out of his gun. Our guns are identical other than the scopes and we are going to see if we can take out a few more of these hogs
  4. Been taking out a few of the little ones, but I would like to get a few of the bigger ones
  5. Just another little one, but they taste better anyways. I was messing around down by the tank and wasn't really expecting to see any hogs, but I heard something over by the feeder and when I looked there was three of them looking at me. I was only about 30 yards or so from the feeder and my AR was in the mule a little farther away, I figured as soon as I moved they would take off, but I made it to the mule got the trusty AR and took one out. The others took off, one right back into the brush, the other one running right towards me, but I had the scope turned up and all I could see was a blur, he ran past me then decided he better high tail it the other way and join back up with his buddy
  6. Last Sunday was the last day for me until the fall season rolls around. I had fun chasing them again this spring, and finally after a 2 year dry spell I finally shot one of them from our place Sunday afternoon, I was in the middle of two gobblers and they would answer me and them answer each other. I sure thought that I might could get them mad at each other and come see who the other gobbler was in the area, but I never did see either one of them. Good luck to all of yall still going out, now I get to start work on my mom's to do list this weekend, but I am sure I will sneak in at least one afternoon hog hunt
  7. Great story, congrats on a nice bird
  8. In my experiences, they seem to squeal more when shot with a bow and all leave out the same direction, and they just seem kinda confused and not sure where the sound came from when shot with a gun and run in every direction. I really like this shotgun, it is a Mossberg 835 I got a few years ago for turkey hunting mainly, but I also use when going predator calling.
  9. Have not had much luck lately with trapping them, but they seem to show up while I am out turkey hunting, that is fine with me Saturday afternoon, I was going to the other side of our land to try to strike up a gobbler, came up out of the creek and was about to drive thru the oat patch on the 4 wheeler. I seen our cows out there and I seen our calves laying over to the right of the gate, but I also seen some pigs on the other side of the cows on the far side of the field. Well there just happens to be a few trees growing up in the fence row, so I parked the 4 wheeler, got the shotgun and started walking on the other side of the trees to get whithin shotgun range of the pigs. Finally got within range and slowy made my way up and under a mesquite tree and picked out a pig, boom, down she went. There was about 10 of them out there and while they were running away I unloaded the shotgun on them, but only managed to get the one

    Last few hunts

No blister yet, the AR is ready for some more action
  11. Good luck, hope you call up a longbeard for him. Knowing my luck the birds will be running to all that I can throw them this weekend, I have until May 11 to hunt them and I have three more tags so we will see if I fill another tag or not. I do have a cousin that will be hunting with me this weekend that has never killed a turkey and so far this season he hasn't been to impressed with the hunting, so he will get first shot if he is with me, but if not I will let my 835 talk again
  12. Saturday after while out turkey hunting, I had some pigs come by and I got one of them with the shotgun Then Sunday afternoon, I took the AR along with the shotgun while turkey hunting, the hogs came back and I got 2 pigs and a sow with the AR Yesterday afternoon I went turkey hunting again and actually got to kill a turkey
  13. The birds around my place haven't really been gobbling that much and when I could actually get one to answer my calling, when I would try to get closer or get him to answer again they would always shut up. So the last couple of weekends I have been sitting around my cameras where I always get their pics during the week, but on the wkends all I would see would be hens. Yesterday I walked around the pasture and never could get one to answer me, so I went and sat by one of my cameras. About 7:30pm I seen a hen coming my way, so I got the shotgun up and ready just in case. Finally I seen a red head bobbing thru the weeds towards me, so when he got within range I pulled the trigger on the 835 and down he went. Then I looked to my right and seen another red head running for cover, not sure how big he was, but I sure am happy to have finally got a gobbler this year. Weighed in at 18 pounds, 6 1/2 beard and both spurs 5/8
  14. Congrats on all the birds guys, looking good. I just got all my info entered for the team. My stats ended up being 18 pounds, 6 1/2 beard and both spurs 5/8 for a total of 43.5 points. 16. Good luck jm and punkin and congrats on the bird Nick, thats a great bird. I had to go to my office this morning which is about 100 miles from my house and only 20 miles from my moms house and our place where I hunt. So after I went and ate lunch with some of the folks I work with and I was done with my duties at the office until next year, I went to my moms loaded up the shotgun and headed out to our place. Ended up getting a bird after sitting for a while, will get it entered up for the team in the next couple of days. He is no monster for sure, but with only 2 more weekends left for me and the way they are acting at my place I took the shot. Not exactly sure of the measurements, but he did weigh 18 pounds, beard is about 6 inches or so and about 3/4 inch spurs.
  17. Well the morning didn't go to good. I had two gobblers answering my calls, then a hen pictched in also. They all met about 100 yards from me, so I just shut up and the hen started coming my direction finally and both of the boys were following her. They were about maybe 50 yards or so away from me, I could see the red heads bobbing thru the weeds, then all of a sudden the hen took off flying and her boys took off running the other direction. Not sure what the hen seen, but whatever it was sure did ruin my morning. Going to get a quick bite to eat and go and try my luck again this afternoon.
  18. Congrats Bowtech and to your son punkinslinger . I just got back to town from hunting, had a few answer, but it was late and they were headed to the roost and wasn't really interested in me. I will be back out there in the morning to try and get one of them.

    ~Team 3!~

I am still here, but have had no luck so far this year finding any sheds. I usually don't really find that many, but by now I have usually at least picked up a couple.
  20. I seen it again this weekend around the same spot, I put one of cameras back around this spot, so maybe this week I will get some better pics
  21. Another dry weekend for me also, couldn't get any gobblers to answer any of my calling, so I sat by a couple of my game cameras that I had been getting their pics on and they never came by. Late Sunday while I was packing up my stuff at the cabin, I heard a couple different toms on the roost. One of the was about 200 yards or so down by the creek, so maybe I can catch him coming or going from the roost this coming weekend.
