1. Sept 17th.First slickhead of the year.Dressed at 97lbs. Qtring away the Spitfire had her down within 60yds.
2. Congrats! Anyone that can beat that dreadful disease is a hero in my book!!!
3. I live a little over an hour from Ground Zero. It's impossible to forget! I know people that work in Manhatten. I also remember the eerie silence during the week following. The only thing breaking the silence in the sky was an occasional fighter jet tearing on by. It's hard to believe it's been 10yrs already. I sit and watch some of the footage and it's like it happened yesterday.
4. Well out of the 14 stand sets that I have out only one sustained some damage. The top step on one set of sticks was hit by one or both of the trees in the following pics. Bent it about 20 degrees or so. Could've been worse. The stand was on the opposite side of the tree so it survived. After finishing up the damage assessment on all my sets I was pleasantly surprised. We only had to do some minimal trimming and clearing. I hunt in areas where there are a lot of diseased hemlocks. I was expecting things to be much worse. Hopefully everyone else fared as well as I did.
5. Hats off to ya! Tough way to earn your wngs!
6. Heading into the woods in a little bit. Need to check stands and shooting lanes for hurricane damage. Season open on the 15th so it doesn't leave much time. Hopefully the storm didn't force any drastic pattern changes.
7. Glad you made it through!! CT got slammed pretty good too. We only lost powere for 4 days but there are still areas that are out. Areas of the shoreline got crushed. One town had 25 houses destroyed or condemned due to damage from the surf on Long Island Sound. I've never, in my life, seen the Sound as angry as it was last Sunday. Irene hit at the worst possible time here as it was an xtra high tide (astronomical high tide) due to the new moon. Glad she's gone but, man, did she leave her stamp here!
8. I really don't know what the compatability is. You might have to check with T/C.
9. I have a T/C Encore Stainless 26" Heavy .223 bbl, model #4968. The bbl is in excellent condition. It has one small scuff about 6" down from the end of the bbl that can be seen in one of the pics. It also comes with the black synthetic forend as well as a mint Vortex Viper 3-9x40 scope model # VPR-M-01P. The scope has a 1" tube with a Duplex reticle and is Matte Black. I've only had about 100shots thru the bbl It's been to the range a couple times and in the woods once. It was going to be used as my Coyote setup. This is the only gun the scope has been on. I've owned the entire setup since it was new. The lug was bored to accept a Bellm #2 oversize hinge pin. Below is a link for more about the o/s pin and how to buy one if needed.Mike Bellm TCs - Encore Oversize Hinge PinsI have the original boxes for the bbl and scope.$450 shippedNO tradesPlease pm me with any question. Thanks,-Scott
10. My 2009 Ram 1500 CC Sport During one of numerous snowstorms this past winter Illinois corn field Illinois bean field And finally, nice and clean in the driveway
11. Been awhile but I'll add my .02. I worked at Mossberg in 2007 running CNC's for a short period of time. It didn't take long to realize I would never own one. I really can't say much more. I moved on out of there pretty quickly. Wasn't the place for me.
12. I shoot year round so that takes care of that part. Stands are all hung with all shooting lanes trimmed. I prefer to get that out of the way as early as possible to let the areas "settle" down. Bow is ready. Arrows are made. Broadheads have been shot. I'm basically ready. About all I do from now until Sept 15th for prep is shoot from my treestand in my back yard and check trail cams every couple weeks until the first of the month. Once Sept comes I will check/set my cams one more time and then leave the areas until opening day.
13. I would send it out to be dipped. I had my Alphamax dipped and it looks great. The finish will also hold up better than a home done paint job. Not to mention it won't stink like paint. If you insist on painting it I would wait until after the season. That smell may not dissipate in time. Also keep in mind that altering the finish on the bow will void the warranty if there is one or if that matters.
14. Guess I was away longer than I thought, lol.
15. My '09 Ram 1500 CC Sport
16. I saw Pinwheel's thread so I figured I'd copy him and "re-introduce" myself, lol. I've been away probably about as long. See a lot of familiar faces. Hope all is well!!:drink:
17. I do! Do you remember me??? I've been away for probably just as long, lol.
18. I used the 2 blade last year. I could not WAIT to shoot something with this head to see the damage!! I got my chance quickly. I shot a doe opening day. Nice broadside shot. I was about 20' up and she was 20yds out. Nice entry, perfect exit. I waited about an hour for my brother to show up and we took up the trail...or tried to. The bloodtrail was non existant. I was shocked. We ended up doing a grid search and my brother found her on a deer trail. She only ended up going about 100yds but we could not trail any blood to her. I started to question the shot until we got to her and it was right where I thought it was. The entry hole was decent but the exit slit was about the size of a quarter. In other words the blades were closed upon exit. When I first got these heads I was suprised to see that the blades did not stay open when they deploy. My first impression was that the spring tension was way to stiff. In other words it takes alot of force on the tip of the head to keep the blades open. If the blades hit anything solid in the body cavity(bones, ribs) they will close up. I also don't believe that there is enough tension on the tip once inside the body cavity to keep the blades open. Either way, that was the one and only deer I shot with them. I sold them soon after. Not my ideal choice. They did what they were supposed to do. She died quickly. But if I didn't see the direction she ran the recovery would've been ALOT harder.
19. Sure Loc Challengers are not even $200-$250 new. Plus he said it's a sight bar not the whole sight.
20. Re: Shot the Bowtech Guardian I can't speak for the lean on the Guardian but the lean on my '07 Tribute was excessive. If this is fixed I would really have hated to seen it last year.
21. Re: Shot the Bowtech Guardian IT was a very quiet bow bit I hated the draw cycle. The 60lb bow I shot felt like 70. I think it is much better looking in person than in pics. Bowtech was supposed to do some work with their cam lean issues on this year's bows but they're no better. I had an '07 Tribute that I sold. Just didn't care for the feel of the bow. The cam lean on it was pretty severe as well. I ended up with a Vectrix which I like and shoot a whole lot better.
22. This is a Doinker 7" A-Bomb Elite Target stabilizer. I used this for 1 indoor and one outdoor shoot. It's in perfect condition. It weighs 10.3oz. $70 tyd. No trades. PM me with any questions. Thanks, -Scott
23. Re: Mathews Outback question [ QUOTE ] isnt it 1lb on the botton bolt and 1lb on the top? or is it 2... [/ QUOTE ] You have to turn both limb bolts equally to get the 2-3lbs.
24. Re: WTB a Mathews Switchback Xt I just listed one for sale but it's a 29" draw 60lb bow. Check the listing and let me know if you have any questions.
