  1. Hello fellow archers. Im looking for any information on a bear cheyenne plus bow for a friend of mine (30", 70#). Think its a 2000 model, but I cant find any information on the web. Looking to see if there are more cam options to get the draw length down from 30" to 28". Any suggestions, no local bear dealers or proshopps near. You guys are great! Thanks
  2. Re: String Loops I use an ultra nockII. I have not had any issues with it and find it to be perfect for me. String loops are faster (arrow speed), and look better too. I like my D loop, but if you have a caliper release string loops will work well together. String loops are cheap, try em and use what you feel comfortable with.
  3. Re: What is the big deal about blazers They do seem to have a higher profile, which can help steer an arrow. I shoot 3" AAE with a right helical, but things are of prefference. They do look cool with their wraps.
  4. Re: Wisconsin archers Well I ended up taking two does early in bow season, had to fill the earn a buck, and then took a nice 8pt in october. I have seen some nice bucks late season, but hung up the bow before gun season came. I too have noticed much more activity with the end of muzzleloader and with more snowfall.
  5. Re: Whisker Biskit? Wow, glad to hear you guys like your rest. I have heard of a few people all being unsatisfied about it. I understand that all the fletching is going through nearly untouched, but its not for my taste. How is long range accuracy? Just curious, I know that being able to not worry about your arrow falling off your rest is a unique feature, which many hunters will gladly take. So maybe the biscuit comes with some gravy?
  6. Re: how high????? I usually go 23-25 feet up in the trees. Like it has been mentioned before, cover is much a dictating factor. The higher you go, the further away the deer needs to be for the same angle to occur if you were lower. After hunting high, its tough to get down to 15 feet and get away with much. I hunt as high as i can go with still being able to get a high percentage double lung shot.
  7. I have a friend who is getting some new archery equipment, and he wanted to get a whisker biskit. I have shot shoot through rests, and drop away, and wont get rid of my trophy taker for anything. I hear many people claiming they like their whisker biscuits, but how can they beat a drop-away? Im not bashing the biscuit, but how can always having fletching contact be better than zero fletching contact?
  8. Re: what expandable do you use??? I use Rocket Sidwinders, 100 gr, 1.5" cutting diameter, .036" thick blades. I do love them. I bought a six pack plus extra blades, a couple of years ago, and have taken 10 deer with them (still have two good heads left). I used to shoot a fixed head, but switched to expandable in 2001. There are pros and cons for each. Personally, any sharp, thick bladed strong broadhead will do the job. Its all about accuracy. Put the broadhead where it needs to go, and it will do its job. I do see a little better flight over longer distances with a mech head though. Nowadays there are many heads to choose from, and I think most of them are good choices.
  9. Re: How Many Deer is a \"Goal\" for your Freezer? Between my dad and I we like to get 7 deer or so. Right now we are at 7 wrapped and in the freezer from this archery season.
  10. Re: I may never find a shed??? Dont worry, you will soon enough be finding sheds. After the first one they all seem to get easier. Im not quite sure on the topography of TN but I would agree with the other guys. Granted you dont have cedar swamps to hunt in when the deer yard up, but all you need to know is where the bucks were when they were shedding their antlers. Look in the feeding/ bedding areas and inbetween. Be positive, and dont get frustrated, that will just make it worse. Look for small parts of antlers, I picture small spikes on the ground, and not whole antlers. It helps, also putting antlers on the ground and seeing how they lay, or which way they lay is a good idea. Then your mind will recognise, sheds when you scan at them. Remember its not about the quantity or quality of the sheds, its all about being out in Nature and enjoying it for its beauty. The sheds will come, just remember to walk really slow, when your thinking Im walking slow, go even slower. Every 10 min or so, slow down more, most of the time you get all excited and move faster. I think many people walk by too many sheds because they dont see them, they are there, just waiting to be found. Hope this helps, the rush of finding your first shed will last a lifetime. - EJ
