  1. I'm home for the summer but I'll be back in September.
  2. One of the various storms we me on our way there and our way home - Here's the one tom that was shot: (no tripod) I took this one just for you guys: I was just messing around, taking all these pictures when 6 jakes walked by. Caught me completely off guard so I tell my friend to call and get them to stop but before he even got his call out, I shot one. And then my other friend got this jake the next day. More random pictures:
  3. Re: Bald Eagles (Finally) [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Thanks guys. It was a car kill. I'm about 10 miles away from the Wisconsin River. [/ QUOTE ]I figured. Nekoosa area?? [/ QUOTE ] nope, I'm actually in the baraboo/madison area.

  5. I was so excited to finally get some eagle pics on one of my homebrews but part of me is kicking myself for not having it setup right. I had this cam set up for coyotes so the cam is a little further away and it is set on ISO400. I kinda wish I would've put the cam closer and put the ISO on auto for some better quality photos, but I'm still happy.
  6. Re: Computer Question??? right click on the pic then left click on 'view image' or 'open image location' then it goes to a page that shows only the picture and it should be automatically resized to fit your screen.

    Car or Truck?

Re: Car or Truck? A truck. Just because you only have $1800. I can't think of any car I would want for that much but there are a lot of nice trucks around for under $2000.
  8. Re: Soundgarden/Audioslave fans Can't watch it with dial up but if Black Hole Sun is the video I"m thinking of, it's pretty funny. I like both bands but I think Audioslave was better when they were Rage and Soundgarden.
  9. Re: Another computer question There should be 2 keys on top of each other with the regular function on them but they'll also have, in another color a lightbulb and an arrow up and a lightbulb with a down arrow. There should also be another key probably in the lower left corner called FN or something. Hold that in and press the lightbulb up button. That's how mine works. Same with the volume control.
  10. Re: Gutting gloves [ QUOTE ] Your doctor or dentist may NOT have an open wound but still protect themselves don't they? [/ QUOTE ] They wear gloves mostly just to protect you, not themselves. I would go insane if my dentist didn't where gloves. But if I were a dentist, I wouldn't mind not wearing gloves. You're not going to infect the deer with germs on your hand. I think if you're gutting it out, it's already dead. My opinion - we're all taking this way too seriously. If I remember to bring gloves or they are easily accessible, I'll wear them. If not, no big deal. I usually don't wear them though. I can see the argument the people that wear gloves have, even though they might not always work(if you cut through your glove with your knife for example), there is no reason not to wear them. Even if they don't help, they won't ever hurt you. I'm not sure if what I just wrote makes sense, I'm really really tired. If it doesn't, just ignore this post.
  11. Re: A lot of homebrew pics Thanks for the comments guys [ QUOTE ] how much did it cost you to make the homebrew? is it better then other brands? what do you have caged in the field in that one pick? [/ QUOTE ] One of those cost about $160. The other cost about $200. My most expensive one I've built is around $275. Yes they are better than other brands. I've tried a few commercial digitals including cuddeback and my homebrews run circles around all of them. Those are Black Walnuts and White Pines in the cages. I think we've got about 300 in that area. Thousands more throughout the woods. There are instructions floating around everywhere. Here's a sticky I made in another forum. It's about a year old so it needs a little updating but most of the stuff is still relevent. I just haven't gotten around to updating it.
  12. This buck was shot by my cousin:
  13. Re: How High? I put it waist high and angle it depending on the terrain.
  14. Re: Camouflage Help! Another vote for Mossy Oak.
  15. Re: switching to homebrews [ QUOTE ] How much do you guys have in the homebrews? I had 270 in my LR. Id like to have anthor but if ill save some money ill build my own. [/ QUOTE ] I usually figure around $100 shipped for the case, board and all the hardware(everything minus the camera). Then I add that $100 to how much I get my camera for on ebay which varies a lot depending on what camera I buy, how patient I am, and what time of year it is.
  16. Re: Cull buck-maybe? I do however agree about culling the 4.5 year olds that aren't over 150. By the time they're 4.5 years, you can tell that they're going to be a good buck or not. I still won't practice though, at least not on our hunting land. A 145 is still a trophy in my book.
  17. Re: Cull buck-maybe? I disagree Texan. You can't tell what a buck is going to be like until he's 3.5 at the very minimum. A spike or a fork just means that they were born later. A yearling spike could very easily outgrow a yearling 6 or 8 point by the time they're both 4.5. My philosophy was always against culling because we don't have enough bucks and the bucks never got old enough that even a small 4.5 year old would be a wall mounter. Most bucks around here just don't get to be that old. A small 4.5 year old would probably be bigger than an average 2.5 or 3.5 that most people shoot around here. I always figured the more bucks, the better. But now it's been proven that culling spikes is a bad philosophy. Go ahead and pick up the October November and December issues of NAW and read all about it.
  18. Re: Working the scrape Wow nice pics. I'm hoping to get some pics like this, I just put the cam on a scrape this weekend.
  19. Re: Mossy Oak.... I'm actually a mossy oak man. But I really don't think different camo patterns make a difference in the woods. You could wear wetland camo in the deer woods and be perfectly fine. Deer don't care what camo you have, just as long as it breaks up your sihlouette.
  20. Recent pictures from the past few months or since whenever the last time I posted. Only 2 shooters but they're pretty nice ones. It' nice to know that the bucks are appreciating the black walnuts we planted:
