  1. Happy 13th Birthday to the most wonderful boy a dad could have!! Mom and Dad love you!!!!
  2. I doubt a firing pin being worn as it only has a couple hundred rounds through it at most
  3. I have my fathers Winchester model 94AE 30-30 and every once in awhile I get a misfire... I have a bullet with a partial dented primer, but failure to fire. I've sent the rifle in once before for repair and thought it had been taken care of as it went through a box or two of ammo and did not occur again... however, it misfire for me again the other day... I had sent it in thinking it was an excessive head space issue... my question is... 1) Could this still be the same issue or something else 2) Can it still be sent in and repaired and where do I send it? Thanks Swampy
  4. Ok... I can see why a mod may move this thread to the youth room.. or more appropriately the target archery room.. but WHY would it get moved to the BOWHUNTING room when absolutely NOTHING in it is regarding hunting? My daughter is 10 years old... not even legal age to hunt for 4 more years..... if I placed it in the wrong room.. as far as Im concerned.. so did the moderator.
  5. My 10 year old daughter decided she wanted to join the indoor archery league and has been shooting her little red recurve for years now... she DOES NOT want a compound bow of any sort. She has outgrown the recurve she currently has and I need to get her something that is a bit bigger and better for her. It isnt a requirement, but a purple riser would be nice.... how do I size her for a recurve? I am not familiar with them at all.... thanks

  8. What bullet style and grain weight do you recommend for shots of less than 125 yards? A good hard hitting devastating round... I have very limited experience with a 30-30 but want to use my Dads...Thank you
  9. I'm so proud of you my little man!!!!! Happy Birthday bud
  10. Anyone have any good iPhone apps where you can pinpoint your exact location of tree stands, trails and such on your hunting land? I mean with satellite imagery too? Kind of like google maps or something. Needs to be accurate. Thx

  15. My sons indoor archery league is looking for some small gifts and awards to hand out to the kids when the year is over. Im trying to help out with a few prize ideas... anyone that may have any good ideas, please PM me and let me know. I've got one autographed photo already from a pro staffer to give out, but any other ideas? I though about a gift card to Cabelas, or to Gold Tip or something... Thanks Ken
  16. So what is the best event to attend with my son to meet multiple pro staffers of the hunting community and get some photos? Thanks
  17. Once my son is about 4 years older, I would love to come visit you in Alaska Steve....
  18. May be a dumb question, but is there a certain time of the year (like just after the Shot Show), that new model guns are released? The reason I ask is after settling in on a certain gun for my son, should I expect new ones to be available now?
  19. I want to reload some managed recoil rounds for my 30-06. I was poking around the internet and found this on Chuckwawks website... .30-06 Springfield - 165 grain Speer SP bullet, 25.0 grains of SR 4759 powder, CCI 200 primer, Win. case. COL 3.250". MV 1941 fps in 22" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.) I like the thought of using the SR 4759 powder as there is a load that I can use for my son's future .270 that uses the same components. .270 Winchester - 150 grain Speer SP bullet, 26.0 grains of SR 4759 powder, CCI 200 primer, Winchester case. COL 3.270". MV 1957 fps in 22" barrel. (Based on the Speer Reloading Manual No. 13.) Any thoughts or opinions? Thank you
  20. Settled in on the Remington 700 SPS Camo in .270 caliber...
  21. Def going to go with a rifle over the shotgun. I am settling in on either a .270 or 7mm-08, with managed recoil rounds. Now it's time to choose the make of rifle.... was thinking about a Rem 700 of course, but am going to gun shop today to take a looksee... Purchase won't be made til May, so I have plenty of time
  22. They dont have to be microscopic, just small to medium would be good.. preferrably under $200... I like Burris and Steiner too
