Re: HarvDog??? Sorry that I've neglected you guys. I just started a new job so I'm trying to get settled. Obviously, that has limited my availability during the day. Also, friends of ours just had their first baby and we have been helping them with meals and stuff. We even offered them a great name for their boy...Buck Hunter or even Bo Hunter. Looks like both names are still available. Anyway, it's good to be back. I've gotta spend some time catching up.

Well, I hunted Friday and only saw one deer the entire morning. Around 8:30am, I stood in my treestand to stretch a bit then started reading an email on my Blackberry. All of a sudden, I heard a bunch of noise behind me. It was a decent size 4 pointer. Keep in mind, I haven't shot a buck yet. I waited until he cleared the brush and give me a nice 30 yard shot. I hit him a little far back. He kicked his hind legs (very cool) and ran into some pines. I did see him cross the fence line about 100 yards away. Since it wasn't a vital shot, I decided to leave him and try tracking the next day. I did find my arrow and it definitely had evidence of a gut shot. Unfortunately, I didn't find any blood neither where I shot him, near the arrow, or at the fence line where he crossed. I searched for quite some time but with absolutely no signs and NO LUCK. I was bummed. I case it comes with the sport.

Re: treestand Treestands...I use several that my buddies already have hanging and I own a ladder stand, as well as, a hangon stand.

Re: The pre-rut is starting to happen in Va. Holy Cow! Look are all the Virginia boys out here. Where do you all live? I'm in Dumfries near the Quantico Marine Corps base. By the way, I plan on hunting with my muzzleloader on Saturday so I can't wait to see this behavior...it will be the first time for me hunting the rut. bowhuntinbucks - WHERE did you get that picture?

Re: Thanks everybody.....we lost him Our prayers are with you and your family. I lost my Grand-daddy recently as well. He was another great man and will be sorely missed. I pray that God will bring you comfort and peace during this time of loss.
