Just signed up, How long do they take to come in? What results have you guys had with them? Thanks

I havn't spin tested. Is that easy to do? Any good threads on that subject? I'll also retry the paper tune. The crest's slightly overlap, roughly 1/32-1/16, would that affect them? (I would think that might show up in spin testing) thanks

I now this is alittle late to be having some of these issues, but, better late than never. I've been getting some odd arrow flight. Here's my setup. 02 Hoyt Magna Tec, set at 68lbs, 29" draw, Trophy taker rest, Tru-fire huricane release, CC 400 series arrows at 30", 100grain field tips and G5 Montecs. last year I paper tuned, shooting great. This year I made a couple of changes: 1) moved peep site slighlty 2) creasted arrows with 4" duravanes. Shooting out to 20yds, everything seems to shoot great. At 30, 35, 40, 45, it seems that I'm starting to get some erratic flights, especially the further out you get. I have 2 arrows with illuminocks, and at 35-45, they seem to be spiralling about a straight line to the target, more noticible as you get out at the further distances. they still hit within 3-5" of aimed spot. When shoting broadhead, after 20yrds, the arrows are starting to drop 2-3", and I'm now getting a whislting off the broadheads. Could I have to much weight on the back of the arrows? (Crest, illuminocks?) I have a 125 grain field tip and a 125grain muzzy broadhead that a buddie is letting me try to see if that helps? Any suggestions would be appricated. Thanks

OK, so I'm a year late. I just read yours. I can't wait to get out, 9/15 is pretty close. Happy hunting to all.

I'm not sure if any know of this, but I was goofing around with mine, and I pulled the reed asmembly out, and low and behold, it has an adjustable reed. It will cover all of the different types of grunts, from Estourous Doe Bleat, Doe Grunt, thru 2 or 3 different buck grunts, (YB, MB, TB) What's nice is you can really get loud if you need to.

The reason I'm asking is that the last 2 years I've been climbing up, then attaching harness once in stand. I know, it should be attached on the ground, but I've been having a hard time figuring out how to move up as I go. I'll have to check out some of the lineman type rope/knot options to get up the tree. My hunting is all done on public ground, and the stand/steps go on as I go up, and come off as I come down. It deffinatly would be easier and safer to be straped in as I go up, and as I hand the stand, I'm not a fan of hugging the tree while not being attached. (Lone Wolf Alpha Assult modifed to take the "easy hand hook" helps) Thanks for the input so far.

What is the best way to attach yourself to a tree while climbing and hanging a stand? I have a Lone Wolf Safety Harness, plus another similar type. It's easiy to attach once you are on stand, but is there a way to attach yourself when on the ground, and as you climb up the tree before you get into your stand? Thanks

Thanks, just wanted to know what others thought of leupolds.

I have an oppurtunity to buy a leopuald RX-2 rangefinder for $150. it is new. I know that is a great deal, but was wondering if it is what I really should get, vs a compariable Nikon, ect... budget is always a concern. What are your thoughts? Any input would be appreciated. I bow hunt only. thanks

I've got this one also. I just got the Huricane with the new Foldback strap. AWSOME. Mag

When did you wisconsin guys see the rut picking up in Central Wisconsin last year (2006)? This would be Waushara county. 1st week of nov. we saw a bunch of running, but I was wondering what others saw. I'm trying to coralate some things to help pick my 3days of bow hunting during the rut phase this bow season. Thanks for any input, Can't wait till Sept.

Re: G5 Monotec BH They made some changes to them this past year, and are very sharp out of the box. I got a heart shot this year thru the shoulder, she only went 20yrds.

Re: Late-Late Season Wis. whitetails Well, the wife changed my plans for the 30th, now I won't get out till the last day of season, 1/7/07. But that's ok, I was able to check the area out last weekend, all the corn is picked, but the fields that will work for a food source havn't been plowed under. my funnel spot should work perfect, just depends on wind. With the snow melt, and rain, the creek is high, and the swamp is wet, will have to wear wadders in. should be fun, but hard to wait another week. thanks for the input.

Quick question on late-late season Wis. bucks. I've got one more chance to get out, Dec. 30th, we saw 11 different bucks in the area I'm going in early Nov. before gun season. How would you set up on them? I know there are a ton of variables. I hunt in public, its mainly a swamp, lots of grass in the trees, not to wet this year, most of the surrounding corn is down and tilled. (I'll be checking out the area this weekend to see if any corn is left) I have a natural funnel area, tag alders that cross a CRP type field, between swamp/hardwoods to creek to farm fields that had corn. Lots of movment in this area in nov. Also, would you put out an estous type scent to mimick any late blooming does? It'll be an all day sit. This is in East/Central Wis. Thanks

Re: Carbon or Aluminum? Shooting the 300's at 70lb, are you sure you are spined correctly? I was shooting those also, but my broadheads were hiting 6" low at 20yrds, when my bow is set on 68lb. I went up to the 400's and they are now dead on. I have a buddie who is shooting around 65lb with Hoyt Trykon and a Mathews Switchback, he can't seem to get carbons to hit right, so he shoots alum.

I need some advice on a possible jacket purchace for late season Bow hunting in wis. My current gear, wool pants, good long underwear, have worked well, but my jacket needs some upgrading. I have a Filson Double Mack Cruiser. (Wool) which worked ok, but I'm growing out of it. With 2 sweaters under, I cannot pull the bow back, and the wind still comes thru it. I have sat in -20*F, but got pretty cold in 1.5 hrs. I was wondering if anybody has used any good, silent, light weight(not heavy to pack in) type jackets? I'm hunting an area where the wind will blow in my stand. My ski jacket, thinsulate and gore tex under a blaze shell is great for gun, but makes way to much noise. Any input would be helpful. Most of my hunts involve a 3/4 - 1.5 mile walk in thru swamp, off trail, (with treestand, pack, steps) so weight is a concern. Sorry for the long ?, but any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: WISCONSIN GUN OPENER! Have fun. This will be the 3rd gun season I've missed. Switched to bow, and I don't miss hunting public in gun. The area I was out bow last week, saw 11 different bucks, one doe. I hope all the gun guys in the area still in need of an earn-a-buc doe, That way all those bucks should make it through. maybe I'll get a chance at them late season.

Re: Lone Wolf stands ? I bought the Alpha assault, the 8.5lb hang on. Great stand. Since it is so light, one of the ways they get it there is size. I have size 12 feet, with the bow in the bow holder, if you stand up, and swivel, your foot might catch the bow at the front, and hit the cables by your ankle. I have one or two changes I plan to make to it before next year in the off season, but I think it was worth every penny. If you are not hiking in far, the larger ones might be a good choice.

Re: I got the shakes! While the weather didn't cooperate, the bucks were deffinitly running. Me and my buddy didn't get a shot, but we figured the property out, and have a couple of great stand sites for next year, or maybe a late season sit. all in all, we seen over 11 different bucks, 4 large shooters. one problem, only seen 1 doe, the wis. earn-a-buc program along with aig tags is taking a toll. Happy hunting to all.

I'm getting out for the next 3 days. I shot my earn-a-buc doe earlier this year, and havn't been out since. (I only get a limited amount of time/year) I just got the report that the big one I saw last year is still out there, but this year he's even bigger. (way out past ears) I can hardly work right now. Most of the corn in the area is picked, except a small 10acre parcel just to the north of my spot in the swamp. I can't wait to get out there, only bad thing is tommorrow it's supposed to be 65*, instead of the 30* like it should be. I hope to have some great pics to post next week. Anyways, hope all have a great time this week.

Re: lone wolf Just got the new Alpa Assault. Awsome, I'll know more once I get to use it. Light, Easy to pack, this will be great for going into the swamp that I'll be in in a couple of weeks. the main reason for buying this one is the size and weight. You can't beat it. The design is bullet proof, these type of castings are very strong, I used to work for the last American outboard company, and we used the same casting house for many of our components. They might be expensive, but I think, it will be worth it.

Re: 1st Deer with bow - doe (no pics) I finally got the pic. downloaded. Here she is. Not huge, but perfect for the freezer.

I finally got out this year. 3rd year with bow, and finally connected. 18yd shot, she ran 25 yds before pilling up. One shot, thru the heart. I had 7 turkeys by my stand for about 10minutes, scratching around. Then after they left, 3 does came in. I took the big one, the fawns took off, came back 5min. latter. They're big enought to get thru this winter. Lots of fat on the doe. Got my earn-a-buc tag. Now for the buck. can't wait till Nov. rut rolls around. No pics yet. GW- The harness worked great.
