  5. Well folks, here is one that I wrote myself. I love writing and hopefully will start to do more of it! Hope you all enjoy! “The Voice of God at Sunrise” By Josh Steele Read Mark 16:1-8 As a passionate outdoorsman, I find myself glued to the television for most of the summer months, watching countless hours of hunting videos. It usually doesn’t matter what type of hunting it is…I can get into any of it! A couple of weeks ago I was lying on the couch watching the opening ads on one of the videos when an opening line caught my attention. Now for those of you that watch these programs as much as I do, you will know where this came from! The opening for all “Primos Truth” videos has Will making an introductory statement and right in the middle of it comes: “It’s the voice of God at sunrise!” Wow!!…. was the sudden thought running through my head. Have you ever sat there and really dwelt on those words? I know that as I sit here and think back over the numerous sunrises I have encountered that this statement holds such truth. There we are sitting in the darkness, awaiting the first glimpse of light, when the woods seem to come alive. There are birds just awakening to provide the choir for the morning’s hunt. The squirrels are starting their day, peeking from their nest or den tree; and during the spring, the mighty gobbler is boasting his thunderous gobble to let everyone know where he is! Do you see the picture? Is it a merely an accident that the sunrise is such a special time of the day? Is it just a fluke that the wonderful painting of nature comes to life at that certain time of day or is there another reason? I think that God knew all along that the sunrise would some day hold an extra special meaning! You see, there was a moment in time that occurred at sunrise that forever changed human history. It was a moment like no other before it and none other since, but perhaps, the most important claim to Christianity. The Resurrection! When you read Mark 16 you will find that on the third day Jesus arose from the dead at sunrise! This meant that Jesus was who He said He was…God…the very God that had come to earth and taken human form, lived a sinless life and then died to pay our sin debt. But, He did not remain in the grave. He rose AT SUNRISE to conquer death! It was at this moment that Jesus had defeated sin and death. This miraculous resurrection is the one event that assures the believer of certain victory. So you see, how can SUNRISE not be the “Voice of God” that we as outdoorsmen and women get to witness every time we go into the woods to start our day! The next time you find yourself seated in the sanctuary of nature, think back to Mark 16 and give thanks to Him for making the sunrise such a magical time! After all, He did have an AWESOME reason for it!
  6. I recieved this one in my email and thought I would pass it on to you guys. Great message! I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! God bless! The ‘Risk’ of Obedience by Mark Kelly "[Abraham] was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to do. His faith was made complete by what he did – by his actions." (James 2:22 NLT) To many Christians, "faith" means sincerely believing something is true when you don’t have any evidence. In fact, faith is acting on what you know full well is true: God is able to keep his promise and can be trusted to do it. Faith that is only theoretical conviction isn’t faith yet. Real faith – living faith, saving faith – does something about it. God had promised Abraham that Isaac would be the father of an entire nation. When the Lord commanded him to sacrifice his only son, faith wasn’t some abstract issue of believing without evidence. Faith meant taking the risk of obedience – frightening as it was – because Abraham knew God could keep the promise even if Isaac died. Raising a son from the dead is right down God’s alley! The life of faith is a life of taking risks that aren’t actually risky. When God puts a challenge before you – even one that seems crazy to your human nature – you can step out in confidence because you know God is able and faithful. When your faith and actions are working together, then your faith will be made complete. Prayer: "Lord, what you want from us is exciting – and a little frightening too. It would be a lot easier to just stay with our ‘business as usual’ lives, but you have something seriously amazing in store for us if we will match our beliefs with obedience. Please strengthen our confidence in your power and trustworthiness, and grant us the courage to step out in faith when you give us opportunities to prove how much we really trust you." Point to ponder: The life of faith is a life of taking risks that aren’t actually risky.

    Why now!

Well looks like I am off to surgery once again. I have been playing some church league softball this summer and after our last game I started having some pretty bad pain in my left knee! Well I got home from work the other night and my knee was huge. So off to the docter I went. Well after an MRI looks like I have some pretty bad cartlidge damage with some bone involvement! I meet with the surgeon next week to schedule everything. The only thing that worries me is the fact that this will be the 3rd surgery on that knee. Not to mention this could really dampen the start of hunting season! YUK! I will keep you guys posted with details and let you know how things are going! Just send out a prayer if you don't mind! I know that it is all in His hands and He will take care of us through this all! God bless, Josh

  21. Too Many Possessions Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15 KJV How much stuff is too much stuff? Well, if your desire for stuff is getting in the way of your desire to know God, then you've got too much stuff-it's as simple at that. On the grand stage of a well lived life, material possessions should play a rather small role. Of course, we all need the basic necessities of life, but once we meet those needs for ourselves and for our families, the piling up of possessions creates more problems than it solves. Our real riches, of course, are not of this world. We are never really rich until we are rich in spirit. So, if you find yourself wrapped up in the concerns of the material world, it's time to reorder your priorities. And, it's time to begin storing up riches that will endure throughout eternity-the spiritual kind. Today's Prayer Lord, keep me mindful that material possessions cannot bring me joy-my joy comes from You. I will share that joy with family, with friends, and with neighbors, this day and every day. AMEN
  22. Man....just saw this thread....Have been busy lately! Owell, guess some guys just don't have any luck!
  23. Contagious Faith Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23 Holman CSB Are you genuinely excited about your faith? And do you make your enthusiasm known to those around you? Or are you a "silent ambassador" for Christ? God's preference is clear: He intends that you stand before others and proclaim your faith. Genuine, heartfelt Christianity is contagious. If you enjoy a life-altering relationship with God, that relationship will have an impact on others-perhaps a profound impact. Does Christ reign over your life? Then share your testimony and your excitement. The world needs both. "There seems to be a chilling fear of holy enthusiasm among the people of God. We try to tell how happy we are--but we remain so well-controlled that there are very few waves of glory experienced in our midst." A.W. Tozar Today's Prayer Dear Lord, I know that others are watching the way that I live my life. Help me to be an enthusiastic Christian with a faith that is contagious. AMEN
