  1. That's great it is rare that the thieves get caught!
  2. No I wouldn't shoot a fawn with spots or a doe that has fawn with spots. I would wait for something that I would at least get some meat out of...
  3. I watched that before too...I thought it was going to be a joke, but that guy made a perfect shot and did a number on that hog. It was really cool! I don't think the slingshot thing will catch on though.
  4. I have no problem with crossbow hunters, they made it legal in VA for all hunters to use crossbows a few years back. Before it was just for people that could not pull back bows because of medical reasons. I know some people that decided to try compounds after using crossbows, it kinda got them into archery hunting and I think it is a good thing. I also think it is great for younger kids that can't put back enough weight to kill deer with a compound. I feel it is a good tool to get people into the world of archery and if it is legal, go for it!
  5. 20, 30, 40, and 50 (plus I have an extra pin that I might sight in at sixty just to have practice at longer distances). In a hunting, I would probably at most shoot 40 yards.
  6. Nice buck, congrats! I love them rages...
  7. Geez sounds like everything that can go wrong is...Good luck I hope you get everything straighten out. At least you know what is going on.
  8. I think rainy days are some of the best days, I really like them when it is cool out. I am not much on hunting in real high winds, but I will do it just to be out there, cause you never know when the big one will walk by your stand.
  9. That's why I love hunting private land...sorry to hear about your bad luck!
  10. I say got for it...you never know. You can't kill one at home.
  11. Good luck! Season starts tomorrow...can't wait to be in the treestand...
  12. Sorry to hear you lost one. Which rage were you using? The 2 or 3 blades? I have had good luck with both, maybe you just had some bad luck, but I understand going back to a broadhead that is proven for you.
  13. I usually kill at least one or two a year. Where I live there are a lot more does than bucks. I practice QDM somewhat, so I pass up the smaller bucks and shoot does. I shot one with my bow and one with my rifle last year, thats all I killed. Hopefully this year I'll get a deer with a little bone on its head.
  14. I would def say that Virginia is part of the South...the confederate capital during the Civil War was Richmond, Va. I myself am proud to say that VA is part of the South. I live in Shenandoah county in Virginia and the local QDM sent out surveys to landowners and hunters in my county to see if there was interest in antler restrictions on private land. They had over the needed two thirds votes and they took it to the VDGIF. Since there was so much interest they made it that we could kill two bucks, but if you killed two, one of them had to have at least four points on one side. Maybe you can contact the vdgif and see if they have proposed hunting on Sundays when they set game laws. If not maybe hunters should let them know that there is a great interest for it and it should be proposed. The game dept has made some good changes in the last few years, so that may be something they are looking into.
  15. That is a great buck...why don't you run him across the Virginia line to me!!! Good luck, hope you get him.
  16. I am from Virginia, but I am from North West Virginia. I put out some game cameras and got mostly does and fawns. I did get a nice seven point on camera and some nice bears, but I was having problems with one of my cams. I got plenty of pics of really nice bucks last year and I'm sure they are around the area. Good luck Virginia hunters!

  18. I don't have any kids to take, but I know a few people that are taking their kids out. I think this was a great idea and I'm glad VDGIF is coming out with game laws that are getting kids out in the woods. Good luck and I hope your kids gets one!!!
  19. I would say to let the deer come as close as possible and to not shoot a deer at 40 yards, just to shoot it at that distance. I would wait for the time when you need to take that shot, when the deer hangs up at 40 yards. I have been practicing up to 50 yards at a coyote target and shooting great, but I will only try a shot around 40 yards, only if I have to take that long of a shot, but thats me. I say if that is truly what you want to do, got for it. Good luck, let us know how you do!
  20. Great job! You are right the rage two blades are amazing. I shot a doe last year with them and I'm going to stick with them for a long time.
  21. Hahaha yeah I know the feeling...we can't wait already and we have to read about people out there already hunting... Oct 3rd can't come soon enough!!!
