  1. Entering a 7 point buck for team 2. Story posted on team thread.
  2. Here is my story. Veterans Day weekend is always my favorite. I always seem to do well. Because I sat home sick with a head cold the previous weekend I was anxious for my 4 day weekend. Thursday morning started off cold and the deer did not move until late morning. I had a few does wander through but no chasing at all. Suddenly over my right shoulder there was a button buck and following him was a big rack buck (bigger than mine). The button buck was right under me and he made me when I gripped my bow. He wasn't too alarmed but he went behind me instead of in front of me and the rack buck followed him. I tried to turn but was quickly busted with a snort and a flag. Off he went. I beat myself up for the rest of the day until a small basket rack 6 trotted by quickly. He was on a mission and wasn't stopping for nothing. Dusk came and I was optimistic about the rest of the weekend but not the weather. Lots of rain. The next morning the heavens opened up and it rained in buckets with high wind. It was supposed to let up after noon so I went to my new property to pull trail camera cards. After the big storm I figured the deer would be on the move but no. I sat almost 4 hours and all I saw were squirrels and chipmunks. Finally at last light I saw a deer coming straight at me. It was odd because bucks never come from that direction. I didn't have much time to think, I saw the rack and said it was go time. I waited for him to pass by my 30 yard tree. Was he going to go in front or in back so I could choose my pin. As soon as he went behind I gave him a "Meh" to freeze him and I lit up the Lumenock. I have never lit one up this late so it looked like a laser went through him. It was pretty cool. The shot looked a little back but he only went 20 yards, stopped and laid down dead. After I climbed down, I yanked him out of the weeds for the first picture then called my 86 year old dad to come over with a flashlight. He was tickled to say the least to get out. We hung him up in dads garage and celebrated late.
  3. Congratulations Partner!!! Looks like we will do alright. here is my archery buck. He is a 7point
  4. Well I unleashed my turty-turty on my first Tug Hill buck. At approximately 8:15 Saturday morning I heard the bluejays alert to something to my left. I gripped my rifle and gave that area my focus. About 5 minutes later this buck came trotting into view. I saw that he was a decent sized buck so I sent one through the boiler room. I'm not going to enter him just yet. I usually do well during archery season and the rut has just begun.
  5. As soon as I saw your entry I searched all over this place to find your story. I had to know if you got him on your property. How rewarding!! Congratulations on a great brute of a buck!
  6. Love her enthusiasm! Wish there was move video. Congrats young lady!

    Been awhile!

Welcome back! Hope you have a great season.
  8. I still have a couple arrows with that wrap. Best of luck!
  9. Nice view! I've haven't done as much bow hunting as in past this year. Our early black powder opened Saturday it was a real soaker. I went out Sunday and saw a couple does. NYS is divided into two zones Northern and Southern. Northern rifle season opens this Saturday and it looks like it will be a perfect day to hunt. It will be cold and sunny. Deer will be on their feet. After that will be 3 weeks of bow season then Southern Tier rifle starts. Lots of deer hunting to come.
  10. Been trying to get out to the stores. Bass pro had a bunch of 9mm, .223 and 5.56. Not one lick of hunting ammo ?
  11. I count the days. Tree stand therapy, nothing like it.
  12. Well so far I have made three trips out with nothing to show for it. Had a huge solo doe make her way in last Saturday but once she crossed the 30 yard line she winded me and did a Minion. Hot weather this weekend, hard to get excited when the weather is summer like.
  13. Okay then, why is there no ammo? Are the plants shut down? No components? No work force? I really haven't had time to research this topic. I would assume they would be operating around the clock. So why no ammo?
  14. And I'm sure the does just stood there watching you fiddle with the gun ? I don't own a flint lock but I have had something similar happen to me with my cap lock. I leaned it against a tree and the cap slid off. When the does stopped in front of me, click, draw hammer, click, draw hammer, click, look down, start swearing.
  15. LOL!? We were teammates last year and if I remember correctly, you didn't pull the trigger. No being picky this year!

    I'm back...

Very nice! Hope you enjoy your new home.
  17. I was hoping to see some hunting ammo start to appear on the shelves by now but they are still bare with the exception of some 12ga. bird shot, 9mm and .223. The ammo companies have to be working around the clock, you would think that a little something would start to show up on the shelves. Is anyone else getting some ammo in the stores or is it just New York?
  18. Me, me, me, me, me, me!! Count me in!!
  19. Happy Independence Day everyone!
  20. Was not your typical opening day. Walked all day and never had a gobbler respond. I also never heard a shot all morning.
  21. Saw my first hummingbird today. Guess I have to get my feeders out tomorrow.
  22. Since Easter was cancelled last year, I want to wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter weekend. I hope you get to spend it with loved ones and may you all get home safe.
  23. I got my second Moderna several weeks ago. The nurse warned me that that any side effects would come 12 hours later and it sure did. Woke up exactly 12 hours later with a fever. I kept it at bay with tylenol and motrin. 15 hours later it disappeared. I was a little dizzy the next morning but by afternoon I was right as rain and have been since.
