  1. At least she's getting something she wants.I used to shop for my wife and most of it ended up getting returned anyways.I subbed my shopping out to my sister for a few years, but now we don't get each other anything and just buy stuff for the kids.I go with her to pick some stuff up for the kids and that's it as far as shopping goes.
  2. Once I forgot my camo duffle bag that had all my stuff in it....gloves,scents,face mask, etc. This year when I shot the two does with my bow I actually forgot my rubber boots so I had to hunt in my Nikes.
  3. I started hunting rabbits and quail when I was 12,but didn't start deer hunting till I was 15.That year I shot my first doe with a shotgun.I didn't bag my first deer with a bow till I was 24.
  4. I would say a red bone hound or a brittany spaniel.I always wanted a beagle and that's the dog we have now.
  5. Yea,I have heard that in our environment it's better to plant perenials in fall so they don't have to fight the weeds so much, which is why I was leaning to the the other mix for spring, and maybee planting the clover/chickory in the fall where my brassicas are now.
  6. Got that in an e-mail yesterday from the guy's cousin. No doubt that thing's a hoss!
  7. With only a few weeks left in the season my focus will be changing to getting ready for next fall. After my first plot this year I really got the food plot bug and want to put something in this spring. So what's been everybodies best spring plot? I have about another 3/4 acre and was thinking either clover and chickory or a soybean, milo, lab lab, and pea mix.Annual or perinial doesn't matter to me,I just want something that provides good nutrition and is a good draw through the start of the season next season.Any other ideas?
  8. Total meltdown by the Blues last night against the Avs.Final was 9-5.We need Legace off the IR and back in net.
  9. Nice!That's a stud buck right there!Congrats!
  10. I ended up not even going out.We had mid to upper 30's and rain steady all weekend. We still have bowhunting till the middle of January, but it's going to be tough to top my 9 pointer this late in the season.Looks like we're into third place now with 73 points. The leaders have 78 and second place has 76,so we're right there.
  11. Stevebeilgard,I sent you a p.m. this morning.
  12. It's supposed to hit here tonight and into tomorrow.Just filled the generator up with gas yesterday in case the power goes out for a few days like last year.
  13. I've been using them for 2 years on my aluminums with no complaints. Some people have not had good luck with them, but I have yet to have a failure when I put them on correctly. Most of my arrows have at least 100-200 shots through my whisker biscuit.
  14. Not sure if I'll get out this weekend with the muzzleloader or not.Supposed to be crappy weather.I'll have to wait and see how it pans out.We had freezing rain and sleet yesterday and suppoed to have more over the next few days.Looks like were not far behind in the points!
  15. I've gotten that message on a few occasions.Kinda aggrivating.

    Citgo

Our Citgo's have all changed to Z X. Not sure what it means, but I'm sure it's still owned by Chavez since they only changed the signs and left everything else the same.I buy from Phillips 66.
  19. Last night was my first trip to the E.R. with one of my kids. My 1 year old boy woke up Monday with a little fever. My wife took him to the doctor and he said it was just a virus.Give him childrens Tylenol and keep him hydrated. If his temp gets above 104 bring him to the E.R.Well,he woke up around 9:00 last night and was burning up.His temp was 105!We put him the tub and got him cooled down and off we go to the E.R.After 3 hours there they find out it's strep throat.Thank God it wasn't worse!Pretty helpless feeling as a parent having a sick one in the E.R.I was really worried about his temp being so high, but the doctor said kids are really resiliant and he should be fine.Scary stuff regardless.

    Minnesota

I use to live in St. James, which is about 30 miles from Mankato.I loved it up there, especially the winters.I always had sleds so I was never snowed in.I moved back to Illinois in 1999.
  21. Congrats on a fine looking buck!
  22. My answer is yes and no.I don't own my own land so besides the neighboring hunters I have other hunters on the property to contend with.I passed on two bucks last weekend that were both killed by hunters on the same property as me last weekend.Nothing I can do about it,but I personally wouldn't have been happy killing one of those bucks. It was one of the guys first buck so I'm happy for him.I get grief constantly from the guys for passing deer, but when I do get a buck it's usually the biggest one in camp.I keep my goals realistic and try to shoot a few does and pass bucks till their 2 1/2 years old.If I controlled my own property I would absolutely raise the bar a little to probably 3 1/2.Just to give you an idea, this season there have been five 1 1/2 bucks killed off this 100 acres of property,so for me waiting for a 4 1/2 year old would not be realistic.
  23. Happy birthday Shaun!Hope you have a good one!
  24. That's an awesome story!Congrats on a dandy buck!I've seen the property and house on Drury's shows and videos quite a bit. They take quite a few dandy whitetails off that place.I've never met them, but Joe and Pam seem like top notch people,as do the rest of the Drury team. That's awesome that you got to meet some of the crew to top it off!Congrats again on a great week!
