Anyone Know of a good lookin' antler mounting kit?
browning_gold_12 replied to a topic in Deer Hunting
Re: Anyone Know of a good lookin\' antler mounting kit? any skills at all, and you can do your own. 1. saw off antlers, getting as close to the back of the bases as possible, cutting straight down into the skull, so the rack will be upright when attached to the plaque. make the second cut just above the eye socket, where the skull is at its narrowest point. 2. clean off hair and meat. it is actually easier to do this before cutting off the antlers, but this is how i get most of them. 3. cut out a piece of 3/4'' plywood in the shape of a teardrop. at the rounded end, (top), i needs to be just a smidge wider than the skull. 4. drill two 1/4'' holes in the skull cap, and attach it to the teardrop, at the top. 5. get some modeling clay, and build it up below the skull cap down to the point, and up over the skull cap smoothing everything out evenly. note: put a small piece of rope,1/4'' or 3/8'', around the bottom of the pedicle. this will keep the clay from building up around the bases too much, and allow you to tuck in your felt. 6. allow the clay to dry, then cover it with felt, or material of chioce. i use the fuzzy stuff from walmart. it covers any imperfections in the clay, and it is a little stretchy. 7. drill two holes in your plaque, and put screws through the back of the plaque into the teardrop. 8. attach a hanger, i uses 1/4'' screw eyes, to the top of the plaque to hang it by. i do 70 or 80 a year this way. nice little sideline business. for a small fee, you can ship them to me and i will do it for ya! here are some pics of mine. Here is my decision for gaining the speed I want
browning_gold_12 replied to Swamphunter's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Here is my decision for gaining the speed I wa hey swamp, be careful jacking it all the way up. i did that with my golden eagle once, and it shot all over the place. it was shooting very well to begin with, at about 78lbs. went up to just over 80 and it went nuts. my 40 yard groups went from .75'' to at least 1.25'' j/k about the group size. when i let it back down, went to shooting good again. guess it didnt like being maxed out??? Re: Did a little surgery... todd, you are insane thats pretty funny about the vas tho!! aight all ya'll ingrown toenail having jokers listen up. cut a V right in the middle of your toenail, and as the nail grows out it will try to close the gap, thus pulling the nail from the outside in. it takes several times before you get it deep enough, cut to the quick each time. got my Rhino .670 2" choke and Nitro H51013 4x5x7 Hevi-Shot in tuesday. shot it at 40 yards and had 331 pellets in a 10" circle. 122 outside the circle on a 24" x 32" box. $181.00 for the choke and 10 shells, but it was worth it. they said to expect 230 to 270 pellets at that distance.

dad got his johnny stewart preymaster in yesterday from cabelas. we went out about 330 this afternoon, in the field behind my house ,to try it on some crows. called in a few, but no shots. went across the road to my buddies chicken houses. got a couple crows, walked to the end of the chicken house, where it drops off down a steep hill into a big field with a creek running thru it. turned on the pleading chicken, laughed my butt off at the sounds. switched to a coyote/fox fight, then to a cottontail distress, glimpsed one just inside the treeline about 250 yards away. i was looking to the left of him when dad hissed, "he is looking thru the fence!" i scanned the fence and found him, squeezed the shot off and lost him in the scope. walked down the hill and there he was, shot right in the base of the neck. 250 yds head on shot, it was so cool.

Re: How did you meet your???? got stood up by a girl one night so me and my buddy dannon took of for another town 35 miles to the south in search of a new hunting ground. we were chasing everything in sight. this one car had a couple nice looking girls in it, we tried to flag them down and they blew us off. little while later we drove thru a parking lot and saw them standing around in a crowd and we high hatted them this time. about the time we pulled back onto the avenue, one of them hollered "hey baby!" we pulled a u turn right in the middle of traffic and went back. that was in may of 94, brandi and i married in july of 95, and now have ryno age 4, and anna age 7.
