  1. Well I made it up Sunday and since there is no hunting on Sundays I was shown around the property and I will say that those were the best looking woods I've ever been in! The hunt was okay, I saw lots of deer but the few big bucks I saw stayed out of range and paid no attention to my calling, I really wished I would have had my climber with me. All in all it was worth it and I would do it again. I saw a few things I've never seen, a red fox, a porcupine and the last day a bald eagle landed in the tree next to me and just as I was about to take his picture he took off, man that is one large bird! Thanks to the people who hepled me decide to go, I'm planning on going back in the middle to end of December.
  2. Re: Question for Maryland hunters I broke down and bought the standing does estrous by code blue, I can't believe I paid that for deer pee I had a friend that went to Illinois last week and said the bucks went crazy over it. I gave up on the climbing stand idea, he said he has stands so we will see what happens. I guess all thats left is getting there. I'm flying out Sunday morning. Thanks for the help!
  3. Re: Question for Maryland hunters Okay live to hunt, I booked a plane ticket, I'm leaving Sunday morning and coming back Friday night. Do you think calling or scent trails would work better? Or both? It looks like I'll be the only one on the property the whole week. I have one more question for anybody that knows.. has anybody ever flown with a climbing stand? will the airlines allow something like that? I will report back when I get home but I'm trying not to get too excited these things never seem to go my way. I freak bilzzard will probably blow in. All I want to do is at least see maybe a 120 class deer (never seen one in the woods)
  4. Re: Walker\'s game ear I've lost some hearing in my left ear (from the gun) so I thought with the aft (II)I could tune it in better how much better or farther off can you hear?
  5. Re: Question for Maryland hunters Is the rut going on there? I'm looking at next week depending on the rut activity
  6. Has anybody used these? I'm looking at the game ear II mainly for the hearing protection, my gun sounds like a cannon with the muzzle brake and I never have time to stick a ear plug in when the deer comes out.
  7. I have a question for you. I have been invited to hunt a farm in Talbot County by my future father-in-law and was looking at the week of Thanksgiving. Will the rut be going good then? How is the deer population? He said they have been seeing some large racked deer and promises me to see at least 50 deer a day, is it that good there? I do good to see 50 deer ALL SEASON here including scouting and driving around! there is two place we will hunt and I know one is by Easton. Thanks
  8. I got to try out my roundhouse blind yesterday morning and I'm sold! I put it out a week before opening day and let it set until yesterday, I was set up thinking the deer would be coming in from my left and of course she decided to come from the other way. I caught movement and saw her about 20 yards away looking right at me (although she couldn't see me) she was too close for me to get turned around in time, she starts walking straight towards me and all I could do is ease back against the wall. I'm sitting there listening to her get closer and then the next thing I know her nose is at the window not twelve inches from my head! I could hear her breathing! It was almost like she was looking in, she sniffed a couple of times then turned and started walking away, this gave me a chance to get my bow and draw, well the floor made a little noise as I was readjusting and drawing back and that made her turn to look back giving me a perfect quartering away shot, I released and made a great pass through. She ran about 25 yards and that was it! I'm loving my slick tricks and the blind. The only bad thing is I guess my arrow decided one deer was enough because I looked three times as long for the arrow as I did for the deer and it was nowhere to be found.
  9. Re: Found the problem!! Thank you, thank you! Just wish I had figured it out sooner. Always learning something! Now if I can just put it to use in the morning when I get in my tree.
  10. For those of you that read my earlier post, my bow kept shooting low everytime I shot it. I went to shoot it today and once again it was around three inches low with my sights all the way down.. I sat down and was looking at my bow bewildered and happened to notice the knot where my drop zone is tied to my string was about to pull out. I remembered that when I first had it put on it had about 1/8 inch of a tail coming out of the knot. I retightned it back to where I had it and low and behold I shot about eight inches high! I had looked at the rest before and it would come all the way up when I was at full draw but I never paid attention to it coming back down. I put some super glue to hold in place and readjusted my sights to almost where I started and I am now back in buisness! Man this thing has racked my nerves these last few weeks. Anybody that has drop aways keep an eye on the string.
  11. Re: Have a problem and need help quick Well I just got back from the camp and managed to get a nice sized doe, the bow is still shooting on from my last adjustment??????? Maybe it was my form but the fact that my sight is now quite a bit lower than it was when this started and the bow is still shooting bullets thru paper makes no since what so ever. As long as it stays I'll be happy but if it starts going low again I haven't got a clue what I'm going to do! Thank everyone for the advice and I will get a friend to watch my form sometime this week.
  12. Re: Have a problem and need help quick Everything is tight. I have already gone over every bolt and screw on the bow.
  13. Re: Trophy Ridge I have both the copper john dead nuts five pin and the drop zone and I can say they are the best two things I have ever put on my bow. I also put the c.u.p. on the sight with the afterburner light, my groups are far more tighter than I have ever had in the past. One suggestion, if you get the copper john with the light be sure to use a marks a lot or something to dim the light as it will wash out your target, other than that you won't be disappointed. I looked at a lot of the other drop aways and the one thing I liked about the drop zone is it drops straight down instead of falling over like most of the others and I had read and heard about them not getting down fast enough especially during cold weather and causing fletching contact. I had problems with hand torque and the drop zone helped with that a lot.

    Bigfoot.

Re: Bigfoot. I've been going to my stand not thinking about anything but being quiet and out of no where the hair stands up on the back of my neck, talk about a freaky feeling! It never happens when I have my gun only with my bow, I actually took an arrow out and walked with it one time because I had the weirdest feeling come over me, I was never so happy to get into my stand. I would never tell anybody at my camp this because they live for this kind of prank playing ammo.
  15. I had my bow shooting great before the season started, I didn't shoot it for two weeks and the day before I left to go to the camp I shot it again. It was shooting three inches low so I readjusted the sight and went hunting, when I got back I shot it again and once again it was shooting low. I checked everything on my bow again and nothing appeared to have moved, I shot it through paper and it was shooting bullet holes. Well I readjusted AGAIN and put it up. I took it out yesterday evening to double check everything before I leave tonight and it's shooting low again!!!! The only thing I can figure is maybe my cams are getting dry? What would be the easiest way to lube them? I can't get to a bow shop to put it in a bow press so I need an quick fix. I'm leaving to go to my camp tonight after work. By the way I have been on alot of bow sites and this one is the best one by far, I really like how there's not a lot of bashing of other peoples choice of equipment. I hate how some people think that just because they like what they have everybody elses is junk. Some of the others I go to start out with someone asking a question and before it's over you have people argueing because they don't use what thay have! Thanks
