Lyman Great Plains Rifle vs. T/C Renegade
lonewolf5347 replied to Randyman's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Lyman Great Plains Rifle vs. T/C Renegade Randyman Lyman makes a great gun had the GPR in 50 cal. 1 in 32 twist gun shot great, but a main issue was the overall weight,a littlle to much for me.t/c excellent gun and there warranty is outstanding I have 4 t/c ..I will say there are a lot of good used t/c out there for 1/2 the price of a lyman and there warranty is still there if needed.Hey you can all ways by a t/c used a choose a GM barrel for it at any time. -

Re: Platinum tips are working great Platinum tips seem they are doing there job,how are the exit holes ,if any .What were they again the 260 grainers will look into them next year, right now I ended the season using the hornady 240 grain mag, 180 yard shot that was a great distance and still drop in her tracks ,excellent. -
Calling all NY ML hunters... What's your position?
lonewolf5347 replied to BuckNrut's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Calling all NY ML hunters... What\'s your posit I think it about time to have an early m/l season in the southern zone, hey what about a week of real traditional like followed by flinter season only either sex. That would be super, really drive bow hunters crazy, just kidding, I am a x bowhunter ,must of put 35 years into bow hunting .but can no longer draw a bow because of bad cervical disk in my neck -

_travis I have the one that was made by t/c a while back found it on e bay.The one sold at cabelas do work well they come with a choice adapter get the one for the inlines.Do they really work? like a dream worth every penny at the end of a hunt ,you can even resue the sabot /bullet(allways point the barrel in a safe direction when using the CO2 dischargers)

Re: Breech Cover Marine Upholstery shop ,ask for a piece of marine vinyl scrap they have laying around, cut it and shape over the breeck area use velco at the bottom to hold it together.I have made that one for my thunderhawk ,and also made one for my flinter .t/c sell them for $5.00 bucks cabelas has them also.I could send you some if you like have some left that I did my seat in the streetrod.

Re: Precision Rifle bullets mdqc01: I had the same problem last year in PA. opening gun season QT"S 45 350 grain blue poly tip in 54 cal. The big 8 pointer shot about 75 yards ,I did hit it high broadside and caught the 3 and 4 rib ,deer did a 180 tail down and was gone after the smoke cleared.I was using 80 grains of triple 777 with the qt's,no snow on the ground ,went to the spot the deer stood and found a couple drops of blood .Make a long storie short the deer went another 75 yards before it went down ,took a good tracking job to locate the deer using the kick up leaves ,the QT 45 did relesase all it energy inside the chest area and never did exit, that was the reason for the poor blood trail. Now early in the season I used the silver light 300 green tip on a big doe at the same distance same powder load ,the exit hole was like a soft ball the deer took two steps and was down.I called precision and they stated the same remarks the bullet is design not to exit ,the silver lighting will exit .I think a bullet that will punch two holes would be easy to recover.I like the silver lighting but there prices are getting a little out of hand.

Re: TC Thunderhawk? I have the 54 cal. thunderhawk wood stock man the gun is well made right now I am shooting 240 grain 45 cal. hornady mag: in a 54 red harvesyter sabot using 115 grains of pyrodex select rain, sleet or snow it will always fire ,never ever let me down yet seem to favor the RWS 1075 plus no #11 caps work the best @ the flame thrower nipple by t/c

Re: barnes I tried the precision 300 grain silver lighting in my 54 cal. two deer both never took a step,on the other hand the QT'S 45 cal. 350 grain poly tip did bring down a huge 8 pointer but went 75 yards and seem to leave very little blood trail, the silver light left a exit hole like a softball. I would have to say if they were not that exspensive I would of stayed with them.I here from other shooters good review on the buffalo 375 grain BTHP BULLET SABOT

What is the little screw between the two triggers for?is to adjust the weight on the trigger that fires the gun after the first set trigger is pulled.T/c states 1/2 saftey the trigger or hammer ,turn the small screw clockwise until a click is heard, that would be the lightest setting on the firing trigger once the set trigger has been pulled.I myself turn the little screw clockwise until you hear the click, then I turn the screw one complete turn counter-clockwise and leave it alone, for me this seem to be the best settings.I WOULD THEN TRY THE TRIGGER WITH A CAP AND SEE IF THE TRIGGER WILL SET ,HOLD AND THEN PULL THE MAIN TRIGGER TO SEE HOW YOU LIKE THE SETTING.T/C STATES NEVER SET THE LITTLE SCREW CLOCKWISE MORE THEN ONCE THE CLICK IS HEARD.
