This was/is the first and only fox squirrel I have ever shot... so that made it special to me.. especially since I am moving to Nova Scotia in June, where they do not have grey or fox squirrels. It will definitely be a neat piece to have in our house.

LOL! We just thought it would be better to go with a traditional looking cake, but have a funny cake topper instead.

Sorry to say, that's not what mine and Justin's wedding cake is going to look like in June.....

*sniff sniff* Do I smell a crush?

Wow, that is great news! I take back my comment about bitter Canadians. We all know they are too friendly to do something like that. LOL.

My guess would be some bitter Canadians that lost. Seriously though, that is really sad that someone would steal them. Even if they don't get them back... we all know where thieves go in the end. Karma is also a you know what..

There are MANY shows I like to watch, but remembering when all of them come on is a different story. Outdoor Channel Jon & Kate plus 8 American Idol Desperate Housewives Dirty Jobs Deadliest Catch Ghost Adventures  Paranormal State Oh, and anything featuring Michael Waddell or that other cutie Nick Mundt. Love ya Justin......

Cody - I went through a big phase like that when I was your age.... and now all I listen to is country... and on occasion a pop song or rap song here and there, but not very often.

1 of many reasons Alisha misses Nova Scotia

*melts* I lay on our couch and watch that every night through our big front window....... boy do I sure miss that. -
Two thumbs up! I feel your pain too.... in my small bedroom I have 2 trout, a deer head, and a fox squirrel.... along with all my other hunting knick-knacks!

Actually that's what I named him on the way home..... LOL!

I have a neighbor that lives a few houses up the road from me, and I bet you $100 that her house is just as bad if not worse. I've heard from secretaries in the vet office/closer neighbors to her that she has well over 100 in her home... and has maxed out several credit cards on taking care of them. As well as several carpet cleaners that refuse to return to her house... not only because of the smell, but the carpet is so disgusting it's not worth cleaning and the legs on the furniture is rotten about half way up from being soaked with urine. No lie. If it tells you all anything... she buys cat food by the pallet.

I called my taxidermist today at Noon to see what was going on with my squirrel and as soon as I said who I was, he said that it would be finished TODAY! Kind of ironic don't you think? He told me... give me a couple hours and you can come pick it up.... and so I did. Overall I must say I'm really pleased with it. Tail looks a bit scraggly, but it was that way when I shot him. SO glad to have him home. Opinions welcome.

There's my buddy! Isn't he just a little cutie. I'm diggin' the waders!

I gotta ask.... what kind of truck do you drive? If the rear sliding window on my '07 Tacoma leaks one more time, then the lemon law is going through on it. So far it seems to be fixed, but it also hasn't really rained much since last fall.

HAHA! Isn't that the truth?

JJL - Those are very similar to the one I bought, except mine is blue and came with a plastic case to put it in. I can't believe how wore down mine already is after only wearing it for two nights.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm happy to report that I've worn my mouth guard for the past two nights and have NOT had any headaches or jaw pain. It seems as the exercise I'm doing is helping also... not only my body, but my mind as well.

Way to go Kyle! Congrats!

Thanks. That eased my mind a bit! HE has certainly helped me through a lot of tough times, as I know HE will for the rest of my years. Without Him I would be far worse than I am now.

Congrats! Would love to kill one of those!

DWL - I took it to Nature's Way Taxidermy. The guy does great work, but he has lost my business along with my Dad's. If I'm able to get my squirrel and money back I'll check into the place you suggested. Kels - The total cost of the mount is $259.00 which is not cheap by any means. It was to be mounted climbing up a piece of driftwood, looking to the side with a hickory nut in it's mouth. (The nut was still in the squirrels mouth after I shot him and when I dropped it off to the taxidermist.) Thanks everyone for replying... I'll be paying him a visit this week.

Well aren't you just a comedian! I can't help it, I'm a professional worry-wart.

In the past 8 months I have been pretty stressed out from getting our new house, planning our wedding, being apart from my honey , moving to Canada in a couple months, etc.! I had been getting extremely bad jaw pain, daily headaches, and at times my teeth felt like they were LOOSE. I went to the dentist a couple months back and he told me it looked like I had been grinding my teeth. LOVELY. The pain stopped for a while, but in the past two months it has returned and I have recently noticed that I was unconsciously clenching my teeth during the day! I finally went to Walmart the other day and bought a mouth guard made specifically for night time Bruxism. I wore it for the first time last night, and while it wasn't the most comfy, or attractive thing to wear, it worked. I could already see where I had bit down extremely hard on it in my sleep. My question is... do any of you have this problem and if so, do you wear a mouth guard at night to prevent it? If you do, what type do you wear? I know you can get one made at your dentist, but mine never proposed that suggestion.... and I've also heard they are quite pricey. I have started exercising again, not only with hopes to lose some weight, but to relieve some stress as well..... perhaps some yoga or meditation is in store next. LOL.

I killed my first ever/ONLY fox squirrel on the opening day of squirrel season in October 2007. I was so proud of it that I decided that I would get it mounted, so I dropped it off to my taxidermist on October 9th, 2007. I paid a $100.00 deposit and was told it would be finished in 4 - 5 months. On the opening day of rifle season, my dad killed a nice 8 point buck in which he got mounted at the same place and was told it would be close to a year before it was finished. Well, 9 months later (August '08), we get a call saying that the deer was mounted. I went and picked up the deer and asked about my squirrel.... he said it would be done in a few weeks. I call back in December asking about the squirrel and he says that the guy who was helping him had quit, that he had been super busy and it will be done in a few weeks. So here it is close to the end of March '09 and STILL no squirrel. I feel like I have been more than patient with this guy. It seems as though he is taking the big $$$ projects over mine, which is totally unfair. It says on my receipt that deposits are non-refundable but I'm seriously debating going there next week and demanding my money and squirrel back. I'm under the impression that he either attempted mounting it and screwed it up, has no intention of mounting it at all, or just taking advantage of me for being a woman. What would you do if you were in my situation? Should I get my Dad to go over there with me one day and give this guy a talking to or what? Also, after being in the freezer for a year and a half, would it even be worth mounting anymore?
