Another possible Wisconsin record bow kill?
WIwhitetailhunter replied to PotashRLS's topic in Bowhunting
Here's video: Possible record buck taken by bow in Fond du Lac | Video Library | Fond du Lac Reporter -
Mailed the app out on the 1st. Mailman delivered my permit on Monday. #321.

I've been summoned once. Seems my profession as a correctional officer for the state of WI posed a problem for the defense, so I was dismissed during jury selection. I can say this...reporting for jury duty and going through the jury selection process was interesting.

That's awesome, Anthony! I hope you get a few "growers" out of them acorns.

Survey is taken. I was surprised. After answering questions, I realized I haven't been practicing safety as much as I thought I had been. It was eye-opening in that I rated safety as very important in one answer but do not wear a harness climbing, descending, or putting up a tree stand. Guess I may have to re-evaluate how I do things!

8 here. Felt kind of stupid when I read the answers to the ones I got wrong. DUH!

I am one of those that "lurks" and doesn't post much. I like to click through the different rooms to see what's new. In my opinion, a lot of the posts don't warrant a comment. For instance-someone posts about what they did today...that's nice...does it need a comment from me? Or someone posts about someone else doing something...again, that's nice...does it need a comment from me? Or someone posts a link to a video...I'll watch it...does it need to be commented on by me? I guess my point is-If I find the post relevant and I have a relevant reply, I'll post it. I'm not going to post just to "up" my post count like it appears some do with their replies. I'm not going to post just to post. If I have something to add, I'll add it. If I don't have anything to add to make the thread more interesting or if I have no opinion either way in regards to a thread, I won't post. One thing to keep in mind-Even though people are "lurking" and not posting, they are still visiting this site. They may not post but RealTree hasn't lost them completely.

Did you see that they are making a new Wonder Woman movie?

Way to ruin a classic. -
The paying in is not an issue. The unions have no problem increasing the pension and health care contributions. No one is asking the WI taxpayers to pay the way.

For what's it's worth, I was one of the protesters. I used vacation time to be there as did the majority of those attending (yes, teachers get personal days). Should I and everyone who were there by "legal" means be fired?

Have any of you been following or heard about what's going on in WI for the past week? Gov. Walker has proposed his budget bill for the next biennium. In addition to calling for public employees contributing more towards pension and healthcare costs he is eliminating all collective bargaining rights except those related to wages (which has a cap). This is the bill which the Dem Senators are opposed to which prompted them to leave the state to stall a vote on it. I am a WI state employee. I am a correctional officer. I have been in Madison to oppose the Gov's proposed bill. I can tell you this...as a union member, these protests are not in regards to benefit contributions. The unions are willing to pay the proposed increases. These protests are in regards to the collective bargaining rights being stripped from the public unions. I was just curious as to what your thoughts are on this. Were you even aware of things going on in WI? What info have you gotten in your part of the nation? (I know Fox News was reporting negative/false info on things.) Are you a union member of either the public or private sector? If so, what are your thoughts should the time come and your collective bargaining rights be on the line? I am not posting this to "stir the pot" and turn this in to a debate/bashing post. I was just curious as to what you other forum member have heard and what your opinions are. Thanks

There's also the WI deer and turkey expo in Madison at the Alliant Energy Center April 1-3. http://www.deerinfo.com/wisconsinhome.asp -
The 2005 deer looks as if it may have been struck by a car. The lower jaw on the same side as the abnormal rack is curved in. I had this deer on camera many times during the year. Whatever happened to it happened early in the year. I noticed nothing out of the ordinary about it otherwise. I'd seen this deer several times while on stand. It didn't walk as if I had any injury. I also didn't notice anything when field dressing it. The 2010 deer looks like it was just sporting what Mother Nature gave it. No damage. Maybe it's the water. I may stop drinking out of the tap! Whatever the reason, I now have quite the conversation piece hanging in the living room!

Here is the 6-pointer I shot with the rifle in November of 2010: Here is the 6-pointer I shot with the bow in November 2005: Here they are together: Both these bucks were shot within 50 yards of each other. They both took their last breath and steps on the same deer trail.

Nice video and pics. Looks as if you have one heck of a camera there!!!

Awesome video, Gary! I don't know what would be a bigger adrenaline rush, the bull you shot or having one like Kevin did being only 8 yards away. My heart was pounding and I was just watching the video! Congrats to you on the great hunt!!

Didn't put a tree up. Don't need to take one down.

Looks good! Any leftovers? If so, I can probably make it there in several hours.

Hope the both of you are feeling better soon!

My 200 yard shot with a bow on Impossible Shots!

Awesome shot! :toot: So what's next? I'm sure it will be amazing! -
Pretty cool video. It's amazing what these dogs can do. I do not and have never owned any Scent Lok items. Price was a major factor with me. I couldn't justify to myself spending that kind of money when I've sat out in stand wearing jeans and a jacket that I had worn all day and still had deer underneath me. I believe it's more about being set up in the correct spot than it is about scent control. Knowing where the deer are and where they will be going and what route they will be using is the most important tool I have as a hunter. I know many would argue that point but I'm going off my personal experiences. We all do things and use things that work for us. If Scent Lok works for you, great. This video just kind of reinforces to me why I don't use it (besides the fact I'm cheap).
