  3. this year i planted a small foodplot and it seemed to work great to draw the deer into and area that i wanted them to be in...the only problem was that they stopped using it during the late afternoon and my trail camera gave me proofnow that they were only using it around midnight...what can i do to get them to keep using it again during mid day.
  4. this year was my second season bow hunting and i had many oppratunities to harvest a deer with my bow. my set up though didnt seem to be the best combination for my bow. i have a brand new reflex timber wolf it fast and quit but i wasnt impressed with my carbon express arrows, what type of arrows should i use...

  6. Re: bowhunting Hey thanks a lot everybody. I should have none i was over using my stand, but i just figured since i only hunted that area friday mourning through sunday night they wouldnt be able to pattern me. because i hunt other ground about 15 miles away from there during the week. thanks again everyone

  10. i have a 3D doe decoy and a buck decoy as well. Here in Illinois the rut starts about Novemeber 5th. I have used decoys in the past but they have never seemed to produce. What is the best time to start using your decoys and what are the best ways of placing them.....
  11. Re: Who has trips planned for this season?? This year i have a five day archery hunt planned with IMB outfitters in pike county Illinois. Should be a great time i cant wait.
  12. this up coming season will be my third year bowhunting. I hunt central Illinois and i am having a tough time patterning my deer. oct.1 through oct. 16 i recorded that a large doe and her twins came across the same trail every mourning, then they stopped using it. then this monster 10 point that i have had my eye on ever since i caught him on my trail camera used a trail that went directly under my stand, but now he only uses it at night around 12 o clock....im really confused these deer must have me pegged.. but what is so confusing is i shot a nice six pointer with no brows out of the same stand in broad day light, but trouble is the rut was over and i had never even seen the buck in my life....please help
  13. Re: still hunting deer still hunting is the way to go, but other way say differant, i had many opratunities to shoot does from m,y stand but passed them all up, i even encountered a monster ten point, but i was confortable with the 30 yard shot in the wind conditions we were having...but yes still hunting can produce
  14. Re: How much practice time is enough? you can never shoot too much, i try not to go a day without shooting my bow at least an hour a day, pretty soon you will be getting groups so tight you'll have to by new arrows from knocking the fletching off the other ones...just always practice, and tyr practicing out of a stand, its a big differance from practicing on the ground and in the stans, i found that out the hard way..another tip is to have a buddy take an arrow and touch your ear with it or rub it against your leg (pretending its a limb or something) that way when that monster buck comes along small distractions wont cause you to miss a buck of a lifetime.
  15. Re: Help Please...... im not a experienced shed hunter, this is my first year shed hunting, and last week i checked one entire fence line and within the first 15 minutes i found a non typical 5 sided shed right next to the fence, so keep most your focus on areas where they jump often, such as over big logs...good luck
  16. Re: WANTED- Shed Antlers they are right, ebay has tons for really cheap. thats your best bet
  17. Re: Lost one of our good bucks 3 weeks ago i was shed hunting and as i was leaving the timber, i was jogging because i was late, and a long white tine caught my eye, and i walked over and a huge dead 10 pointer was lieing dead in his tracks. i had him scored and he came to a gross score of 156 and 3/8, wow he would have been a monster next year.
